PW "SPRINGS" INTO ACTION
Have you seen the first robin? So far I have not, although I've heard of others who have. But I know that April is soon here, and that means lots of action for PW members!
First of all, World Day of Prayer was hosted by the ladies of our church, and from reports, was a very good afternoon. The attendance could have been better, but it still provided the opportunity for members of 3 different denominations to work and worship together, and that is the purpose of it. Many thanks to all who participated!
At our April 4 meeting we will have many things to do. Garnet Stribe will give devotions. The Spring Gathering is set for April 26 (a SATURDAY this year). Like usual it will be in Cherokee, with registration at 8:00. Again we will have a brunch at 10:00, and will be dismissing before 2 p.m. Our speaker will be Margaret Welsh, our synod representative to Churchwide Coordinating Team, who attended the UN Commission on Status of Women meeting in New York. Our own [member] will be the worship leader. I hope we have several car loads of our members traveling to Cherokee April 26!!!! Check your calendars before this Friday so you know if you will be free to sign up to go!
Of course we all are aware that May Breakfast is rapidly approaching. We need to start making plans, so that, too, will be on the agenda. As you will remember, we have moved it back to the first SATURDAY in May. That will be May 3 this year. That is our largest fund-raiser and is an event many local people look forward to enjoying. It shouldn't be too hard to sell your tickets! Advance ticket sales make for a successful May Breakfast.
Our program April 4 will be given by a former Manning lady . . .. She and her husband have worked at a Church World Service warehouse, and I'm sure she will have many interesting things to tell us. Our hostesses are 2 [members]. Circle April 4 on your calendar, and plan to spend the afternoon with the Presbyterian Women of First Presbyterian Church, Manning, IA!
