Memo To:  Mallard United Methodist Women.   Fall meetings are coming upon us.  Our first meeting is September 1st.   We will be holding our meeting at Joy Gehrt's cabin and this will be a luncheon meeting.  Rides can be provided and we would leave Mallard around 9:30 a.m.  We are thinking that this year we could make it a salad luncheon or some can bring salads/desserts and some contribute to paying for Kentucky Fried Chicken.  A schedule will be placed on the bulletin board and church for you to sign up your wishes or let me know if you plan on attending.   Also are you thinking about getting items for your UMCOR kits?   It would be nice if each member of the Circles UMW could contribute at least two kits a piece this year.    I am looking forward to another fun season.   Barb Z

TELL ME AGAIN:  “WHY DO WE PAY APPORTIONMENTS?”

Apportioned funds enable United Methodists to do together what no church, district or annual conference could do alone.

All of this—and so much more—is possible because when we join The United Methodist Church, we promise faithfully to participate in its ministries through our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Paying our apportionments 100 percent, we become a part of something big and accomplish wonderful things in Jesus’ name!

As United Methodists we join hands with other conferences to support the general church giving which includes World Service Fund, Black College Fund, Africa University, Ministerial Education, and General Church Administration.  We also support our Conference ministries which include the Board of Pensions, our Episcopal office, our Conference Administration, and other Administrative Boards.  Our Conference missions are supported by our apportioned giving to assist our state boards and agencies to function within a budget.  The Iowa Annual Conference ministries and missions are here to help us when we are in need of assistance.

When we, as a church, look at the bottom dollar of Connectional Giving (apportionments) we think about how hard it is to meet that amount.  If we all work together to meet our general budget and our connectional budget we can do it.   If EACH member could give $6.35 per week throughout the year we could meet our local budgets and our connectional responsibilities without problems.  We know there are some who are unable to give and there are some who can give more…may we each be blessed and honored by God for what we can prayerfully give.

NOISY OFFERING IN WEST BEND

Our noisy offering is always a great way for us to share a little and it soon grows to a lot!  The past year we have earmarked this offering for our roof project and we have been blessed with this each week.  We are going to change our designation for September and October.  All noisy offering funds for those two months will go to help with the postage costs for our Ingathering Kits. Each kit requires $2.00 to help offset postage costs and each health kit we prepare also needs an additional $1 for toothpaste.  STEP UP AND START SAVING YOUR CHANGE TO HELP WITH THIS ALL CHURCH PROJECT
