Doctrinal Statement

We of Second Baptist Church believe the Bible is the authoritative, inerrant, inspired Word of God from which all sound doctrine originates.

We believe God created all things.

We believe sin entered the world through Adam and Eve and the curse of sin now separates mankind from God.

We believe Jesus Christ, God incarnate, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and sent by God to provide atonement for the sin of mankind.

We believe Christ died on the cross and shed His blood as a ransom for sin.  Because of His death, the penalty of sin was paid and God's wrath against mankind was satisfied.

We believe Christ was resurrected from the dead to demonstrate His victory over sin and death.

We believe all persons who trust Jesus Christ as their personal savior are reconciled to God.

We believe Christ ascended into Heaven and will return for His church at the rapture.

We believe that all Christians have been baptized by the Spirit into the Body of Christ, which is the church, and should submit to the biblical ordinance of water baptism.

We believe the indwelling of the Holy Spirit occurs immediately when a person is saved and remains permanently with the believer in Christ.

We believe that believers in Christ are commissioned to go into all the world for a witness to those lost in sin, and to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
