Saturday, July 09, 2005 9:51 PM Jerry, I am so happy that you are doing well. I have a cousin that died from alcohol and drugs at 40. She checked in to rehab at 7 months pregnant in her mid thirties. She had a beautiful little girl named Rhiannon. My cousin tried her best to be a good mother but because of the continued alcohol and drug abuse, we took Rhiannon into our home when she was 5. I just knew my cousin would get her act together to get her daughter back. She went to rehab but was drunk on the bus before she got back home. She lost custody of Rhiannon and died 4 years later, a vagrant in a neighboring town. Rhiannon was adopted by some cousins in Oklahoma that could not have children and is an exceptional and successful child despite her difficult start in life. The really sad part about my cousin is that her younger sister died of a heroin overdose about five years earlier. She had been clean for a while but hooked back in with her boyfriend and was found dead in an abandoned car a few days later. I have a aunt that was a heroin addict for the entire time her to children were growing up. After the third overdose, she finally realized that she may just succeed in killing herself. The son we call the invisible cousin because he is very sweet but withdrawn. The daughter is a rescuer as she had to be the parent to her mom. She tries to save people and often gets hurt in the process. A wonderful strong woman though and a super mom to her own children. My aunt has been clean now for 20ish years and has been very helpful to those in need donating time and resources to establish a half way house for women leaving rehab/jail that need a safe place to life with their kids while they get on their feet. The interesting thing with my aunt is that she kept her job for the 12 years she was using heroin! She still has the same job at a paper box plant. Drugs and alcohol have touched many families and never in a good way. I am blessed that I have never personally experienced loosing control of my life in that way. My older sister and father have both struggled with alcohol but have recognized their weakness and needs and have found higher strength to overcome. God bless

To God be the Glory.....I know that all praise goes to God so we both lknow that. We pray that God will lguide and strenthen you each day for each task. We know life is not easy and sometimes we make our own problems. I agree with you that people have to admit they are in denial and need to want help before they can be helped but with a lot of people praying we can achieve great things we could not do on our own. nnnnnnnnnnngreat day and know that we can accomplish great things for God. Thanks also for praying for my friend.

I really liked today's verse (1/12/05,Psalm 100:2 ). I have forwarded it to some Christian friends not in a recovery situation. I live in the Norfolk/ Virginia Beach Virginia area and would like to start a Christian recovery meeting in this area. If any one from this area is interested they can email me and let's see if we can get something started. In His grace,
Sent: Wednesday, January 12, 2005 7:38 AM I can't begin to tell you how impressive your site is. I would be led to belive that many many people will begin the healing process if they focus in on a site such as yours. A huge blessing to be certain! It also appears as though you have added my email to a daily verse. If so, thanks very much. I currently also recieve daily verses from "God's Daily Promises" as well as "MountainWings," two other sites I look forward to seeing every morning when I get to work. I hope all is going well with you and I look forward to seeing you later in the week. God's blessings to you. John
Sent: Monday, January 10, 2005 9:04 AM Subject: Today's Verse
Envy is a terrible thing. Envy will stop you from doing what GOD has in mind for you. "I wish I could sing as good as Jerry"---- so I won't sing praises to the LORD at all. "I don't speak in public as well as Chris"----so I will never give my testimony. "I can't run as fast as Lydia"---so I won't play sports with the Church team. I can't do it as well, I'm not as pretty, I'm not as smart, DON'T THINK THIS WAY!!!!! GOD as a plan for you. Fanny Crosby was blind most of her life. She could not do alot of things that sighted people did. GOD had a plan for her. She wrote thousands of hymns and served the alcoholics on the bowery in the late 1800's and early 1900's. She was so well loved that even the toughest men would weep when they touched her hand. Don't be envious, be thankful and use your gifts for the LORD. Ron

Uh-Oh! You'd better put on your asbestos underwear because you are bound to get some hate mail after that crack about the reason there was an accident was because of the perfect woman driver! Hey, just a quick note to tell you that my software guru here buggered out on me, but I see that you have an OUTSTANDING website constructed and you have been diligent about daily postings and the like -- job well done! I'm glad you didn't have to wait for me..... Jimmie has finally cut his first tooth, Bonnie is getting over an ear infection, I quit smoking and I have about 24 hours to do all my Christmas shopping -- but we still wanted to take a second and wish you, your Mom, sister and JT a Very Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year. We think of you often, and I can see that you have made great strides in surrendering your will to HIM -- so what else matters? ;) May you and yours experience the PEACE and Serenity He wants for all His children this Christmas. Yes, turn your will and life over to the care of God and you will be healed. Praise God and thank Him for our salvation in Christ Jesus.

Sent: Sunday, December 05, 2004 11:22 AM I haven't taken any Vicodin for 11 days now. I never thought I would say this, but I am feeling so good. I am happy and alert again. 1 week ago, I would have never thought I was going to feel normal again. The withdrawals were terrible. I prayed and struggled my way through it and here I am on the other side. I have 2 boys that need a sober, loving mom around. Not a grouchy high one. I cant believe I used to drive them around while so doped up. I thought I was fine. I know 11 days in not very long, but I never want to go through that again. I thought I was going crazy. I guess I am writing this because I read all the posts about people wanting to quit and not knowing how to. My doctor weaned me off of them slowly which I think is the best way, but I just want people to know that you can get through it. Yes you will be miserable for a week or so, but once that's over you have your life back. I am far from fixed, I do still think about the stupid pills everyday. But like I said, I never want to do all that again. Sent: Saturday, December 04, 2004 8:41 AMTuesday, December 07, 2004 12:00 PM Subject: Melena's Story(personal stories page)

just wanted to tell you thank you for this site and all that you are doing in Gods name. Yesterday when you sent me the e-mail about my prayer request and you mentioned some things that I may pray for and I said no I would pray to be closer to God and to stay focused on my relationship with him well he must have heard me because today I have had many realizations that have helped me with my relationship with him. I know that there are some things that I am going to have to do and I feel ready to do them, and I know that it is a direct result of the prayer that I sent yesterday. I am feeling amazed again by God's love and devotion to me. Thank you so much for being a vehicle for God to use for the glory of him. May God hold you in the palm of his hand. ~Correna

Hey Jerry, it's Saturday morning. I just have to tell you that I check out GR before I go to bed and after I say a prayer the next morning. I am so excited how God is going to use this site. And I'm not just excited for others, but for me. I anxiously await the day that God is going to knock me upside the head with something that is going to turn me around for good!!! OK, maybe I'm not suppose to be waiting for Him, I get the feeling HE is waiting for me~right?!~ How can we know Him so well, yet not have faith and trust, it's such a weird thing. Well, here's to another day, I will be in contact with you because being in contact with you is becoming the pattern of my day. Love Sheri

There was a man, who was a good man but not a religious man. He was suffering from advanced lung cancer. He was in the hospital and he knew he was dying.
The hospital had a visiting Pastor who came into visit him one day and asked him if he would like him to pray with him. He said, "I appreciate that, but I have never been a religious man

I am touched to the heart at what you are doing on your website. This is truly remarkable. A place where some of us can go that are stuck in our house of prison. Those who never leave that prison except to sober up enough (which in never even close to sober) to go out to get more of that toxic poison to take us back to oblivion.
I used to be that person. A person who had every thing to live for and just wanted to die. I wish a site like this had been there for me.
