First Christian Church is an independent, non-denominational church of the Restoration Movement. In the early part of the 19th century, a group of Christ followers grew frustrated with much of the divisiveness they saw among Christians of their day. Consequently, they sought to unite and bring restoration to their own churches and denominations. Their creed (belief) was Christ and they were committed to no other book of faith other than the Bible. They believed in the authority of the Scriptures and that if people returned to God through following the Scriptures, people would unite around Jesus Christ and more people would come to know Him.
We hold the same conviction today. We don't promote any denominational creed. We seek to follow Jesus Christ and don't label ourselves with any other name than Christian. Although we exist apart from any external authority or control, we do participate with other churches in projects and programs that exalt Jesus Christ and spread the Gospel.
