Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
Growing in God's Grace

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church welcomes Pastor Samuel Janssen. He was
ordained and installed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on August 3, 2008.

Pastor Janssen grew up in Buckley Illinois. He attended St. John’s
Lutheran Church, St John’s Lutheran grade school and Buckley-Loda High
School. He received an Associates Degree in Forestry from Southeastern
Illinois College.

Soon after graduating from junior college the Lord blessed him with a
career working for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service
(NRCS) for 26.5 years. Near the end of his career with the NRCS he
attended Eastern Illinois University to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in
Liberal Arts. In the fall of 2003 he began his education at Concordia
Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne IN. He completed his vicarage at
Memorial Lutheran Church in Houston TX and graduated from the seminary
with his Masters of Divinity in March of 2008.

He has two children. Eric is a personal trainer. Kelli is a teacher who
works with developmentally disabled children.

Pastor Janssen and his wife Kimberly were married June 21, 2008.
