To the Citizens of Zion Covenant Church International:
We are preparing for an annual time of rest for our church community we call Sabbatical. Many saints of the assembly serve diligently and faithfully and need a respite. We appreciate all your labor of love unto the Lord. Sabbatical is a time to connect with family, community and rest.
We believe it is important to reach out to community, worship with other family members or take a vacation. As we set this time aside, more saints look to refresh and regroup for the remainder of the year’s service to the Lord within the local church.
This year instead of being away for the entire month, we will be away only ˝ of the month returning on July 19th, 2009 for our Praise Celebration Service!
Sabbatical is a time of evaluation, why do I do what I do? Do I only share my faith in the church, do I only tithe or give sacrificially because I am told to or do I give because of obedience and love towards God His Word and cause? Do I only pray for people within the church and not outside the church? Do I only open my bible in the service? Do I only have songs of praise in church? Do I fellowship only while inside my church?
It is a time of honest evaluation and adjusting to more fully apply the words of God in our lives.
While away, we will need the continued financial support of each citizen of the community. Although we will not gather for several weeks, the benevolent needs of the body and administrative functions continue.
We have provided envelopes for you to mail or bring in your tithes and offerings. Please give as if you were here. Please mail your gifts so they reach us no later on the Monday after the Sunday service date and on the date following your mid week service date! Leaders lead by example; please be at the forefront of obedience and not disobedience! In case of an emergency, call the office and someone will contact you as soon as possible. If you would prefer to give your tithes and offerings by credit card, please call the office at 630-753-9500 and we will be happy to serve you.
We pray and trust you will have a great time of rest, vacation and fun. We also hope it is a time to reconnect with God and extended family as well. Remember who you are, share Christ with others.
