2004 ACP Benefit
The 2004 ACP Annual Benefit takes place September 11, Saturday, at the Flossmoor Country Club. In honor of Sister Mary Paul, O.P., a reception begins at 6 p.m. Dinner is at 7 p.m., with grace by Bishop Joseph Perry. After dinner, we pray briefly for the faithful departed. Ambassador Alan Keyes, Ph.D., speaks in commemoration of the September 11 attack on the United States. Sister Mary Jean Traeger, O.P., Prioress of the Springfield Dominicans, had travelled to Flossmoor for the celebration; she reads aloud a message from Dr. Nicholas Wolsonovich, Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Chicago. Then, Honorable Angelo Ciambrone reads aloud a proclamation from the City of Chicago Heights.
The Gratiam Dei Award is conferred at 8 p.m. After a brief litany, Bishop Frank Kane gives a solemn blessing. The master of ceremonies, Rick Thiernau, keeps things moving well, throughout the evening. In total, there are 120 guests present, a great tribute to the honoree.
