Youth  Our Youth program is dynamic and innovative, and welcomes all sorts of people.  They've dubbed themselves the "Methodist Misfits" because they don't all fit into the cliques and classification that others establish.  They choose to follow Jesus, who welcomes and embraced all sorts of people.  For some, that makes them "misfits" but then, so was Jesus.

Staff  Find out about some of the people who help make the ministries of Union happen.

We also hope you will come to visit us in the real world, and that together, we will come to know and serve Jesus Christ with faith, hope, and love.

Our Additional Internet Presence

In addition to this website, we have a Facebook page under Union United Methodist Church of Quincy, IL.

Our youth program can also be found on Facebook under the Methodist Misfits.

LOCATION:  We're just west of the intersection of 12th and State streets.  Our parking lot can be accessed from either State Street or 11th Street.

ACCESSIBILITY:  Our East Entrance (pictured above) is accessible and has plenty of handicapped parking.  We also have wheelchairs available.  Our helpful Greeters and Ushers will be happy to assist anyone who needs help getting into or out of the building.  They are also happy to guide you inside the building, if you need to find a particular room.

TRANSPORT:  We will gladly bring you to church and back home.  Just call the church (217-223-6062) by 5:00 PM on Thursday to arrange a ride on our van.

CHILD CARE:   Kids are always welcome in the worship services, but we know that sometimes, parents prefer not to wrestle with rambunctious or crabby tikes, so we have a staffed Nursery during the Sunday service and Sunday School, and activity bags for kids in the worship services.  Kids are welcome to participate in the Saturday Beta Service, and often find its more relaxed environment more comfortable.

Sunday Celebrations

9:00 Relaxed Traditional Service:  We call this service "traditional" because it features the hymns and structure many folks grew up with.  But it's "relaxed" because we have carefully drained the stuffiness from it.  You will discover we're not afraid to greet you warmly and you won't have to worry about a dress code.

Fellowship Time: Right after the 9:00 Service we gather for  coffee and friendly conversation.

Christian Education: Following Fellowship we have Christian Education Classes for all ages.  We have four different adult classes.

Services on Saturday

5:00 PM Beta Contemporary Service:  The term "Beta Testing" has come to mean trying out new techniques and technology in order to reach new people.  That pretty much sums up what Beta Worship is about.  It is different from our more Traditional Worship on Sundays, and not just because it meets on Saturday evenings at 5:00 PM.  This service is more informal and interactive.  We sit at tables and there are snacks available (yeah, it's okay to eat and drink during the service.)  We will be trying different formats of worship, and at least one Saturday each month, we will have a meal after the service to further build our sense of feelowship.

Sundays make up only about 14% of a total week.  But, being a Christian is a 100% commitment!  So, we've got things happening all the time that can provide you with opportunities for spiritual growth, loving service to the world, and fellowship that is purposeful and encouraging.

We invite you to discover some of those opportunities by checking out the rest of our web site.

Better yet... We invite you to come join with us, as we strive to grow in Christ!  We would be honored and to have you become a part of the Union UMC family.
