Union United Methodist Church
A Congregation of Imperfect People Celebrating and Sharing a Perfect Love
Open Hearts - You don't have to be perfect in order to be welcome at Union. After all, we make no claim to be perfect ourselves! But, we are brought together, and held together, by the perfect love God has shown to us in Jesus Christ. It's the Good News of that love which we hope to share with you.
Open Minds - We don't claim to have a monopoly on God's truth, and we don't require you to stop thinking for yourself in order to be accepted by God or us. In fact, we think that an active faith must be one which wrestles with hard questions and a humble faith doesn't claim to know everything.
Open Doors - We strive to create a welcoming community of faith in which people of all types will experience genuine hospitality. We also work to reach out to people who do not know of God's love for them, and to prove that love through our actions. Union has a proud history of being in mission to Quincy and to people in need around the world.
DID YOU GET A NOTE OF AFFIRMATION?
You may be visiting our web site because you got one of our notes of affirmation, and you're curious about it.
The members of Union are sending out these letters to people who have done things they believe are postive and praiseworthy. It's part of our Ministry of Affirmation.
We believe that thankfulness is the foundation of Christian faith. We have that faith because we are grateful to God for Jesus, who lived, died, and rose for us. Gratitude is our response to God's love for us. As the Bible says, "We love because he first loved us."
If you have received an affirmation note, it means that someone at Union appreciates you and what you do and wants you to know that. We think the best way to make good things happen is to encourage and appreciate the folks who do them, rather than gripe and whine about the bad stuff.
As St. Paul writes, we are to, "Love each other with genuine affection and take delight in honoring one another." That seems a positive and gracious way to live, and that is what we're trying to do at Union United Methodist Church!
