Adult Clue Suspects from Youth Kick-Off Night :)

Welcome to the Youth Group Page!

Union has a very active and growing Youth Group, which includes people in grades 7-12, and we invite you to check us out!

We meet every Wednesday night that school is in session.

Meetings run from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

Our annual Youth Church Service was held on Sunday, May 22nd.

We had over 20 youth involved in carrying out the service and over 225 in attendance at church that morning.

The service went amazingly well with the youth giving a very powerful message portrayed through skits and musical performances.  The church was essentially turned into a theater.

The group did an exceptional job and we are proud of each and every one of them that participated.  We would also like to thank all of those who helped and supported the group throughout the past three months in preparation.

God Bless each and every one of you!

Our new year has begun and we are excited to be using the new "GPS" theme and began sending "Letters to God" each week.

We have also started a new facebook sight for youth to send prayers to God through texting and messaging anonymously through, "Writing on God's Wall.

This year has already included two movie lessons, "Letters to God" and "Beastly."  We have also done a couple of crazy games involving wheelchairs and toilet bowl brushes...lessons with dealing with aging in the 21st century and cleaning the scum out of our lives.

Come see what the group has going on...we'd love to have you with us.

Each week, we have unique games (plungers and duct tape, anyone?)

We have discussions that relate the Bible to our lives.

We have movie nights, lock-ins, and mission trips.  We support CROP WALK(which fights hunger) and Habitat for Humanity (which provides affordable housing to families).

One of our most unique and fun projects to help people in need is the Christmas Commandos.  You'll just have to come and find out about how they work.

AND, NEW FOR THIS YEAR....

Dan Burton, who has worked with some of the biggest bands in history will be working with any kids interested in music to put together a truly rockin' music ministry! SKJ The Band

SKJ meets every Sunday night at 6:00.  Check the sidebar to the right to see if they meet this week.

Meet Our Youth Group Directors

Chris Allison (left) works at Quincy Medical Group in Patient Services.  She has two rambunctious boys, Matthew (7) and Benjamin (3).  She is going into her third year as a Youth Director and grew up in Union United Methodist Church.  She describes herself as "athletically challenged" but has been know to bowl without injuring herself or innocent bystanders.  Her favorite TV show is "Big Bang Theory" and her favorite movies are "A Walk to Remember" and "Because I Said So" (which she doesn't say too much during Youth Group)

Cindy Davis (right) is a nursing instructor at Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing, and she was a pediatric nurse for several years.  She grew up in Quincy and has been attending Union for four years.  She is also going into her third year as a Youth Director.  She loves Italian food, especially manicotte.  Unlike Chris, she can actually play basketball and softball without embarassing herself and is an avid Cardinals fan. She has two "seriously ADD" dogs.

Daniel Burton husband to Angela, father of Zachary and Daken, Dad to Christina and Betsy. I have been at Union all my life and am a trustee of the church too. My wife and son Catholic and Daken a member at Cathedral of Worship but all call Union their home.

I am a versatile efficient production professional having 30 years experience in touring audio, lighting, and staging. Possessing skills in all aspects of a show from inception to closing I hold working knowledge of full production. I am an Effective Time Managed, Goal Oriented, Motivated, Personable, Compatible, Team Minded Individual. Now looking to take the life lessons and skills learned and apply them for future benefits to all involved.

statement above is from my resume and was intended to persuade management to hire. Now retired from touring and reading it again I realized something. I many years ago had put down on paper the recipe for the skills needed to build a youth music program and help the church grow into the future. Funny how he works! “Remember the world is all a stage so give it your best performance” Peace {:-)>
