We are about seeking out the very last one. This ministry seeks to help students and adults alike become committed followers of Jesus Christ in every aspect of their lives. Together we live, worship, and serve.

BUT WHY?

So why is our mission statement as such? Why is it that we are out to seek the very last one? 99 “1” Ministry is focused on doing that which Christ did, that Christ calls us all to do. We believe the five purposes of the Church are: Evangelism, Discipleship, Worship, Fellowship, and Ministry. God did not call us to fulfill a few but all of these purposes so that we might live in right relationship w/ God and w/ each other. This ministry makes no claims of originality (purposes derived from Saddleback model) or perfection. We gather together to have fun, to grow, to serve, to worship, and to reach out to others with the truth that has been made known to us. Our focus is on the “1” because that is what God has called us to. We are not called to organize a club to meet our needs but to worship God and that can only be done as we seek to draw nearer to Him. In drawing nearer to God we can’t help but share w/ others the Good News that we know.

99 "1" Ministry Opportunities

Sunday School & Morning Worship: On Sundays we come together to celebrate the fact that Jesus is alive today. Join your peers for a time of Sunday School which act as Discipleship classes. Sr. Hi will work through classes such as Coffee Shop Theology, New Testament Introduction, Class 101-201 (required for membership), and more than a dozen other classes over the course of four years. Jr. Hi will work through the quarterly curriculum put together by the denomination. Also, Sunday morning worship is where all of our local church gathers to praise God through prayer, song, offering, and the Word.

Small Groups:  Each week small groups of Jr. High & High School students meet to get to know each other better and to grow closer to God. This is a fun time and something well worth making a priority. See Pastor Landon if you'd like to find out more about this.

The Vine: Each week we get together for a worship time for students, to learn more about God and grow closer to Him and to each other. He's the Vine and we're the branches. This is a great way of helping to stay connected. Also, be on the lookout for Party with Jesus & Excursion nights.

*Note that for Sr. Hi "The Vine" and Small Groups happen together on Sunday night at 6pm

S3: This stands for "students simply serving." This is a time on Wednesday nights were Sr. Hi students can consistently plug into a place of worship. Areas of ministry include Jr. Hi ministry (praise band or seniors are eligible to be small group leaders), Children's Ministry, Worship Ministries (auditions for instrumentalists and choir open to all), and Dare-to-Care. Dare-to-Care is a key ministry where students pray for fellow students and send notes to let them know they've been prayed for and keep connected with everyone. **Finding a place of ministry is key to growth.**

Friendship Evangelism Challenge:  This is a simple way to allow God to use you.  You love God?  You love you friends/family?  Great!  Then, this challenge is to simply introduce hte two!  Students, the most effective way we can see our friends come to know Christ is by us letting them know about it ourselves.  Invite them to an activity or service and so show and tell them why a life with Christ is worth it!  Is this a scary thought?  It can be, but step out and take the risk!  You'd want someone to do the same for you after all.

OTHER MINISTRIES

The ministries listed to the left are those ministries that occur year round. They are our foundational ministries if you will. However, that is not an all-inclusive list.

Fall Retreats: Every fall there is a retreat for Jr. Hi students and another retreat for High School students. The goal of these retreats are to set aside some time to intentionally draw closer to God, draw closer to each other, and just get out of town.  (Cost is typically around $40 for Jr. Hi & $75 for Sr. Hi)

Missions Trips: Each year there is a missions trip opportunity for students to invest their time and money in. Trips vary from year to year in cost and length. The goal is simply to serve.

Summer Camps: Every summer there are separate camps put on by SWID (southwest Indiana district) in June/July. This is a Monday through Friday event where where over 100 students from all across Southern Indiana get together to worship, play, and just do camp. (Cost is typically around $130)

Youth Quizzing: This ministry is a wonderful opportunity to memorize the Word. Mind you though this ministry is not for the faint at heart. You’ve got to be quick and have nerves of “icy” steel ( I think the “icy” gives it that extra kick).

Service Opportunities: These are projects that are strongly student-driven.  It is a time for 99 "1" to reach out and help both other members of the Body of Christ and those who don't know Christ as their Savior.  We're all called to serve and not just in distant countries.  We serve first by serving in our own community.  Do you know of a possible service opportunity for the community?  Let Pastor Landon know about it and then volunteer to help plan the project.

Ministries are always ready to spring up as they are needed.  This select list doesn't encompass all of what 99 "1" Student Ministry does but it gives direction to what we are about.  As we see needs arise and leaders to answer those needs ministries will begin.

We all need to be reminded.

If you've got questions, concerns, comments, ideas, prayer requests, donations of large sums of money, etc. please contact Landon Yowell. lyowell@seymournaz.org
