Christian education has always been a part of the Church of the Nazarene. From the denominational beginnings at Pilot Point, Texas, the founding fathers firmly committed to promote evangelism, missions, and Christian education.
This young, fledgling religious movement took seriously Christ's command to "go... make disciples of all nations... teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you" (Matthew. 28:19-20). Because of the evangelistic fervor and revival spirit in those days, Christian education became the primary tool through which new believers were taught the tenets of the faith.
Christian education still holds a vital role in the Church of the Nazarene. The major purpose of Christian education is to help men, women, boys and girls study God's Word, the Bible, and apply its life-guiding principles. Christian education classes also enable us to build relationships among people and provide an avenue for people to enjoy small group fellowship with others who share their concerns and values.
Although there are several avenues of Christian Education at Seymour First, our Sunday School is the primary avenue where people of all ages can learn and grow spiritually, while reaping the benefits of support, accountability and fellowship with other believers.
Christian Education Classes for all ages are offered each Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and then again at 10:30 a.m., and a midweek class is offered each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Please visit the Welcome Center or contact the church office or a member of the Pastoral Staff to receive a schedule of current class offerings and their locations.
