Educational Priorities

Saint Timothy Theological Institute & Seminary, Inc. offers graduate-level biblical, theological, and professional education designed to equip men & women for effectiveness in Christian ministry to the universal body of Christ, primarily through the local church. This educational task is accomplished through emphasis on the following:

1. Careful instruction in the Scriptures.

2. The study of various systems of theological thought including exposure to both past and present movements in history and Christian missions with a view to embracing a comprehensive, coherent theology built from Scripture.

3. A consistent focus upon involvement and accountability within the local church.

4. Ongoing efforts to challenge each student in developing a biblical philosophy/style of ministry.

5. The development and improvement of communication, relationship, leadership, and administrative skills for ministry.

Objective

The objective is to produce graduates who are recognized as men and women of God who are equipped to serve effectively as pastors, missionaries, teachers, evangelists, counselors and leaders in ministries around the world.

Training Distinctives

The Seminary community and curriculum are designed with the following goals and ideas in view:

1. Excellence in academics is to be cultivated in an attitude of spiritual devotion.

2. The essential focus of all study at the seminary is to be biblical, exegitical, theological expositional and practical.

3. Though other viewpoints are given careful consideration, the emphasis is to be positive in building upon the certainties of God's inerrant Word.

4. Careful attention is to be devoted to the cultivation of Christian character qualities and living skills which are essential for godly living, for leadership in ministry, and for effective involvement in serving others.

5. Each program of study is to include a significant focus on the development of the appropriate ministry skills which are necessary for effcetiveness in the chosen areas of Christian service.

6. The entire seminary community is to be characterized by the desire for the worship of God, mutual edification and by an evangelistic and missionary zeal.

NON-TRADITIONAL EDUCATION - THE NEW TRADITION

THE VALUE OF A NON TRADITIONAL DEGREE

A U.S. Government-sponsored study

Graduates reported degrees from both accredited and unaccredited schools.

The study sought answers to three primary questions:

Do those graduates having non-traditional degrees have a greater problem getting better jobs, or gaining admission to traditional graduate schools, than those with traditional degrees?
Are there significant differences between outcomes of having an unaccredited, versus an accredited, non-traditional degree?
Are graduates with non-traditional degrees satisfied with the outcomes of having those degrees?

Here is what was learned:

Non-Traditional Degrees and Desirable Jobs

In a survey of Human Resources officers at 81 large corporations, an overwhelming majority felt that while education was important, a non-traditional degree appeared as useful as a traditional one, even if the traditional school had "a strong reputation."

The researchers noted that these findings "run counter to some popular beliefs," but the "survey data strongly suggest that employers, as a group, are not overly concerned with institutional reputation, and that external degree holders should not find themselves denied opportunities in employment settings because of the nature of their degree."

reported on the outcomes of earning both traditional and non -traditional degrees, as reported by thousands of graduates.

We will combine the results of your study in our programs as well as our evaluation of your past experience and learning, to determine what you know and understand. We then grant degrees based on our assessment of your presumed educational and practical experience together with your completed coursework and research projects at Saint Timothy Theological Institute & Seminary, Inc.Our seminary, in addition to coursework, will grant credit for pertinent life and work experience with educational and experiential value. Other schools that grant degrees considering life and work experience include Harvard, Yale, the University of the State of New York, and many others.

This is a new and acceptable concept, the way of the future in advanced education.
