The Salvation Army - Lafayette, Indiana

Center for Worship & Service

Helping The Salvation Army help others by the fundraising Auction Apr. 11, Major James Hoskin not only raised $1169 at the event but steered a $500 donation our way through his contacts as S.A. Legal Secretary for the Central Territory USA. Thanks, Major! Along with his wife, Maj. Mary Hoskin, they served as guests and promotors as well as speakers for our Sunday Worship hour, April 13. Grateful appreciation from us all!

Speaking on Psalm 13, Maj. James Hoskin relates actual court cases where it was, "The People Vs. God". Very inspiring and interesting Sunday Message. Thank you, Major. Maj. Mary Hoskin spoke on her role as Director of the Army's Retired Officers Bureau for the Central States.

Through the efforts of many, the Auction raised $1169.00 + a generous gift from a donor associated with our guest auctioneer, Maj. James Hoskin, in the amount of $500.

We are most grateful for all who helped in any way- including our Auctioneer, those businesses who responded with items for the auciton, and those who did follow up phone calls to potential donors...and of course to those who came, enjoyed the fellowship and made purchases!

" a TAXING situation "

THIS YEAR AGAIN,  EVERY MONDAY AFTERNOON FROM JANUARY THROUGH MID APRIL, SEVERAL VOLUNTEERS WITH A.A.R.P. DID FREE TAX PREPARATION IN OUR LIBRABY.   98  PEOPLE HAD THEIR TAXES DONE AT OUR BUILDING.

MANY THANKS TO THOSE WHO SERVED, AND THE DAY BEFORE TAX DEADLINES, WE WERE BESEIGED WITH SEVERAL LAST MINUTE CLENTS.    THE 'ARMY AND THE A.A.R.P. CAME TO THEIR RESCUE!
