OUR PASTOR
Rev. James G. Robinson, son of a Presbyterian pastor, was born in Chattanooga, TN. When he was three he moved to Prairie Village, KS attending Porter Elementary, Indian Hills Junior High, and one semester of Shawnee Mission East. He and his parents moved to Lawson, MO where he graduated from high school in 1985. Thinking he was going to be an aerospace engineer, he attended the University of Missouri--Rolla.
It was during the summer of his freshman year that he felt the call to ministry while working at Heartland Presbyterian Center (it was called Parkville Presbyterian Camp, then). He transferred to the University of Missouri--Columbia during his second semester of his sophomore year, graduating with a BA in history and religious studies in 1989.
He then attended Louisville Presbyterian Seminary in Louisville, KY. After taking a year off to intern back in Heartland Presbyterian Center, he graduated with a Master of Divinity in 1993.
His first call was to First Presbyterian Church of South Bend, IN where he served as Associate Pastor for youth and camping and was ordained by Heartland Presbytery in September 1993. In 1996, he was called to serve as chaplain in the United States Navy. He was stationed on the USS GETTYSBURG for two years and the Second Marine Division for two years.
He is married to Rebekah and they have two sons: Samuel and Micah
He was called to Heritage on October 8, 2000 and began serving here on November 1, 2000.
His parents and his sister still live in Lawson, MO. He has a brother who lives in Edmond, OK.
