Peace Garden Update

Since the weather is cool, please stop and linger awhile in the Peace Garden.  There are a couple of benches at the center of the labyrinth where you can rest before you leave and finish your meditation/prayer. A bird bath stands waiting for a sundial to be anchored at the center.  Thanks Patsy and Lloyd West.

Thanks to my husband Tom for putting up the two archways. (Jean and I went to Home Depot at the right time and bought it at a steal). The garden looks even more appealing. We  have given each one a silicon bracelet as a token of your support to the Peace Garden project.  The bracelet has this inscription ”Friends of the Peace Garden - FUMRC”.

Please wear it as much as you can and at every opportunity make it as a conversational piece about our church and its ministries. If you have missed getting one, please see Jean Denham. We are now getting bids for mason work to build the brick pathway and also to purchase our pagoda structure. If you can recommend someone please let us

know. I realize that this project is work-in- progress. I have to admit I experience mixed feelings of disappointment, anxiety and concerns mainly because it is a big task and cost.  But I hold on to the continued support of the Project Team, to all of you for your prayers and support, and to God’s faithfulness.  See you in the garden.

Peace Garden Starts Blooming

NEW STAGE

We begin the second stage of the Peace Garden. We had a few bushes and trees that made it thru the winter and a couple of rose bushes did not make it thru.

The next step is to get the ground ready for the bricks. If any one wants to help please contact the church office. If you want to honor your loved one you can place an order for a memory brick in the office We have already have a few that has donated a brick or two in memory of someone. The bricks are $24.99 a piece.

We will be ordering two benches in the next couple of weeks which have already been paid for. Just in case you have not notice the labyrinth in last couple weeks it is finish except for our sundial. You should walk around and meditate and feel the presence of God around you.

How to walk the Labyrinth?

Take a few moments to pray, meditate, or center yourself before you begin. Enter quietly, take a deep breath, walk in silence, give yourself and others this gift. Walk slowly, observe the process. Don’t let yourself be hurried or get self-conscious. Allow yourself to find the pace your body wants to go. You may pass people or let others step around you. Don’t let it distract you.

When you reach the center of the labyrinth you can stand, sit, or kneel quietly. When you are finished meditating in the center, flow the same path out from the center. Do what feels natural to you. When not walking, enter the deep and full silence of other’s prayers.
