NEW LIFE The Reverend DeLishia Boykin Wilson
It burdens my heart to see any church that is not thriving and excited about the work of the Lord. Truly, the way and the will of God are exciting and exhilarating for those who are serious in the battle of the Lords! In February 2002, I was commissioned by a great Presiding Elder, the Reverend John R. Williams who is known world-wide for his anointing in the musical field. Elder Williams looked at a great city of Murray, Kentucky with thousands of students at the Murray State University and asked should not we minister to our studious generation. The answer is "Yes!" A few days later, my husband (Pastor Jeremiah L. Wilson of Burks Chapel A.M.E. Church in Paducah) and I went to Murray, KY to get a feel on the city and see what the Lord has in store. To our suprise, we encountered a man named George Kinsley, who had been a member of the former Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church and had paid the water and gas bills for the last five years to keep the building in operation. Bro. Kinsley showed us the property and he said to me "It is yours if you want it. I'm not sure if anything can be done, but I will help you if you want to try". To many people, this building should not be repaired and restored, especially for the expense that it will take. But on that day, I did not see a wreck, I saw a vessel necessitating NEW LIFE. Thank God that Jesus did not look at people for their outward appearance and say there is no hope. Instead, he looked for the potential in that person and saw a blessing in them. This is the way he expects us to be with our situations in life; to be optimistic about what can and will be done. Paul wrote "Forgetting those things which are behind me, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Jesus Christ" I recently heard a story about a development. A photographer would see an image which produces a negative, then have to take it to the dark room for development. Ultimately, he would come back with a picture. Today, take a look at the "negatives" that we are asking the Lord to take into the dark room for development. Please consider making a donation for the development of the "picture" that is to come and please remember us in your prayers that we may be blessed with NEW LIFE. copyright by DB Wilson@2002

Beloved Children of God, Greetings on this day! There is something wonderful about to happen in the city of Murray - a new ministry is about to begin for the service of the community! Upon recent appointment from the Methodist Church, we have come to the beautiful city of Murray to initiate a ministry of outreach to the surrounding communities. The property on 304 Mulberry Street in Murray is a church formerly known as Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church. This church building has not been in operation for approximately five years and needs a tremendous amount of repairs. Because of structural damage and deterioration to the facility it is increasingly necessary to raise a minimum of $25, 000 - $30,000. To say the least, there is a vast amount of work set before us. For this facility to be a vessel of service the following repairs are mandated: replacement windows, new carpeting, painting, roof work and a plumbing system. Our goals include the development of a spiritual worship service, Bible study for the surrounding community as well as to the Murray State University students and the development of other faith based ministries such as: the development of a housing ministry, a food bank, a clothing closet for the disadvantaged status and a Christian Counseling Ministry. Today, we are soliciting your support to begin this meaningful mission. We encourage you to visit the property, as we are seeking to refurbish the building to be a blessing to the city of Murray. Please consider making a donation for the cause of this ministry. All businesses and organizations that make donations will be listed in our souvenir journal for the Grand Opening. Please make all checks payable to New Life A.M.E. Church. We thank you in advance for your great support in these endeavors. We also look forward to sharing with you in Murray, Kentucky. May the blessings of the Lord be with you.
