eMail Wisdom and Inspiration
By Reggie Robarts

It has dawned on me that I have a plethora of acquaintances, not necessarily friends, who feel the necessity to bombard me with a whelming tide of email.  These electronic letters cover many subjects, but in the main their contents are patriotism and religion.  Those that are religious in nature are mainly of the inspirational type and some are quite encouraging, informative, and touching.  I want to share as many with you as space allows.  Most are serious, perhaps provocative, and some are somewhat humorous.  I hope you not only enjoy, but find them helpful and perhaps will cause you to smile.

Psalm 23 for the Work Place

The Lord is my real boss, and I shall not want.
He gives me peace, when chaos is all around me.
He gently reminds me to do all things without murmuring or complaining.
He reminds me that He is the source of life and not my job.
He restores my sanity everyday and guides my decisions that I might honor Him in all that I do.
Even though I face absurd amounts of e-mails, system crashes, unrealistic deadlines, budgets, cutbacks, gossiping co-workers, discriminating supervisors and an aging body that doesn't cooperate every morning, I still will not stop—for He is with me.
His presence, His peace, and power will see me through.
He raises me up, even when they fail to promote me.
He claims me as His own, even when the company threatens to let me to.
His faithfulness and love is better than any bonus check.
His retirement plan beats any 401K.
And when it is said and done, I'll be working for Him a whole lot longer than that.
I Bless His Name!

Cell Phone vs. Bible

I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

  • What if we carried it around in our pocket or purse?
  • What if we flipped through it several times a day?
  • What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
  • What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
  • What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
  • What if we gave it to our kids as a gift?
  • What if we used it when we traveled?
  • What if we used it in case of emergency?
  • No bill incurred in using your Bible, and there are no dropped calls.

Erma Bombeck's Musings
(After discovering she was dying from cancer)

  • I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for a day.
  • I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
  • I would have talked less and listened more.
  • I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded.
  • I would have eaten popcorn in the "good" living room and worried much less about dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fire place.
  • I would have taken time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
  • I would never have insisted that the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
  • I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.
  • I would have cried and laughed less while watching television, and more watching life.
  • Instead of wishing away my nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was my only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
  • When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later, now go wash up for dinner."
  • But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every moment…look at it and really see it…live it…and never give it back.

(There is great profundity in the simple words she has spoken. Think about them.  RR)
