OWENSBORO CUMBERLAND PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Everyone is welcome in the house of the Lord!

"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name…To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night" (Psalm 92:1-2).

Greetings in Christ,

Back at work this morning, my thoughts are somewhat scrambled. I trust everyone enjoyed the Labor Day holiday, and the break from weekly responsibilities and routines. Personally, the boys and I battled the early morning rains to get in a round of golf, while the entire family came together for an afternoon picnic. It was a day filled with laughter and the simple joys that comes from just being together as family.

But back at my desk this morning with my calendar opened, I was reminded again of the abundance of activities and responsibilities rapidly approaching now that summer is officially over. November is highlighted by the Fall Emmaus Walks. The men’s walk is scheduled for the 5th through the 8th, while the women’s walk is set for the 12th through the 15th. Applications for both walks are available in the church office.

October promises a grand celebration as together we will celebrate two weddings within our existing church family.  Ryne Mantooth and Lynsie Bunn invite you to share their special day on Saturday the 17th, and a week later on the 24th we will continue the celebration with an equally special day for Nathan Harrington and Angel Underhill.

September is filled with preparation for the upcoming Church Wide Yard Sale. The dates for the sale are set for Friday and Saturday the 25th and 26th. The time will be on us quickly, and there is still much work to be accomplished. Currently we have work dates set for Tuesdays the 8th and the 15th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sundays the 13th and 20th from 3:00 to 7:00 and finally on Wednesdays the 16th and 23rd. We welcome participation from all age groups of our Church family to help sort, price, and organize prior to the sale dates. I realize this is a major undertaking, but one that promises to be very beneficial to our entire church family. Even before sales officially begin this sale has generated $993.33.

Proceeds from the sale are targeted to offset the expenses from Church Camp 2009, and meet the expected needs for Church Camp 2010. Any additional dollars above and beyond the needs for this important ministry will help relieve the present 2009 budget deficient.

                                                           Together in His service,

                                             Bro. Tim
