Points To Ponder
- Oklahoma, North Carolina, Alabama, Texas and Ohio had the most inmates put to death in the last 15 years. There are 22 scheduled deaths this year through July alone!
- There were 65 deaths last year.
- Since 1977, over 1000 men and women have been put to death. Quite a few were found to be innocent after being put to death.
- Prisoners on death row (male) are locked up 23 hours a day in an 8' X 10' cell. They only get to shower every other day. Female prisoners get two hours a day.
- Death row inmates have to watch ministry on closed circuit television. They are not allowed the "real time" contact.
- Juveniles 16 and 17 years of age when their crime was committed have been executed for their crimes.
We say to you: The guilty should be punished. But the church should be there to present Jesus Christ to these men an women walking their last miles on this earth. We must reach them! Many of these profess confidence, faith, and alegence to Allah...even with their dying breath. Often this is the case because they have not been introduced to Jesus! This is a sad testament for the Christian church. Think of just how sad it must make our Lord.
Here are some suggestions that you may consider doing:
- Contribute Bibles to the cause.
- Help distribute tracts, or contribute tracts.
- Share literature.
- Become a penpal
- Join Prayer Partners.
- Pray for people, and try not to be judgemental. The Word of God says: Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven. Luke 6:37.
