St. Luke's and St. Margaret's Episcopal Church
a wide welcome in the wilderness

We extend a warm welcome to all visitors and newcomers to our parish, as well as to regular attendees. We are glad to have you with us and hope that you get a sense of Christian fellowship in our midst. Please know that whoever you are and wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome here.

SLAM is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, which is part of a worldwide denominational coalition called the "Anglican Communion." Our tradition is grounded in the worship rhythms of the ancient church, a pattern toward which the church in England reached during the English Reformation of the 16th century. We support the ministry of all Christians, lay and ordained, of all genders, ethnic backgrounds, and sexual orientations.

Our worship is called Holy Eucharist, a sacramental form of worship also known as "Communion," "Mass," or the "Lord's Supper." The service has two basic components: the first half is a liturgy of the Word in which we listen to Bible readings and hear a sermon based upon them, and the second half is a liturgy of the Table during which we turn our attention to God's altar, remembering and giving thanks for what God has given us. We then come forward to receive sacred gifts of bread and wine.

Every week, we pray for loved ones, for war-torn places in the world, for people serving in the armed forces, for the righting of injustices, for our workplaces, for our various communities, past and present -- in short, for all sorts of people, ourselves included. If you would like to place anyone on our prayer list, please contact us, or visit and allow us to join you in prayer.

We invite you to be sustained by Communion wherever you are on your faith journey. You don't need to have been raised in the Episcopal Church to receive Communion. In fact, most of us were not raised in the Episcopal Church.

We look forward to seeing you, and, should you choose to attend a service, please join us afterward for refreshments and conversation.
