Announcements - Parish Community
Volunteers are sought to help get living spaces ready by Fall for 20 new Relational Evangelism Pilot Project and Micah Project interns – and one of those locations, as you know, will be our own Rectory building. Four summer work days have been scheduled on the Saturdays of July 18 & 25, and August 1 & 8. Work will include painting, light plastering, and clean-up, and volunteers can come for an hour or for the whole day. For information contact, Natalie Finstad, Micah Project intern at natalie@diomassintern.org.
Pledge envelopes for 2009 are available at the back of the church for all who would like them. Please put a check beside your name when you take your set. Anybody who wishes to financially support the parish with a pledge can fill out a card, put it into the return envelope, and place it in the offering plate. Add your name to the list beside the number of your envelope set – envelopes are a handy way to keep track of your pledge and can also be mailed in.
Raise funds for SLAM by using GoodSearch! Thanks to Erica Naone, our parish is now signed on to GoodSearch (www.goodsearch.com), which allows us to raise money with each on-line search you do when we, "St Lukes and St Margarets Episcopal Church (Allston, MA)", are selected as the beneficiary. Also, an affiliate site, GoodShop, partners with online businesses that will donate a percentage of items purchased through the site to SLAM. Erica (erica.naone@gmail.com)is willing to help anybody with questions about getting started with using these sites.
Prayer intentions for both the bulletin and the Prayers of the People can be made by filling out a pewcard and placing it in the offering plate or by leaving a message on the
church office phone line.
Have you moved? Please contact the parish office with your new information by filling out a pewcard and placing it in the collection plate at the Offertory, leaving a message on the office phone line, or e-mailing Paulette at stslam@juno.com.
Bulletin announcements may be called in to the church answering machine at 617-782-2029 or e-mailed to stslam@juno.com; deadline is Thursday evening.
Announcements - Wider Community
Ministry to young families – Allston-Brighton Baby: Another ministry in service to our surrounding community takes place here at St. Luke's & St. Margaret's every third Friday. Sarah Correia-Eck has been working with the local Women, Infants & Children program (WIC), Welcome Baby, and other local providers to spearhead an effort to provide young Allston-Brighton families in need with diapers. Debbie Lowe, Sandra Hutchinson, and others are helping, and anybody interested is invited to join them on Allston/Brighton Baby night.
A fund has been set up to aid the family of Mr. Fredy Zepeda, the young father and immigrant from Guatemala who recently died following a tragic car accident in Allston, and whose family is served by our own Allston-Brighton Baby ministry. Their family, friends, and church community have rallied around them to meet their needs; if you are so moved, you can send a donation to:
