EVENTIDE PRESENTS:
“ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE,
HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY”
February 16 – March 4
Thursdays-Saturdays at 7:00 p.m.
Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
Alexander is having a bad day.A terrible day.A terrible, horrible day.But then everybody has bad days sometimes. In this delightful adaptation of her popular children’s book, Judith Viorst is joined by Shelly Markham to set Alexander’s rather trying life to music, bringing to the stage one of America’s feistiest characters. Not only does Alexander wake up with gum in his hair, but his mother forgets to pack him dessert, and his best friend decides he’s not his best friend anymore. And if that’s not bad enough, Alexander’s brothers don’t have any cavities but – he does. And there’s – yuck! – kissing on TV.It’s enough to make anyone want to go to Australia!
Eventide Arts, Inc. is a Cape Cod non-profit organization devoted to producing stimulating theatre for the purpose of inspiring thought and debate, and showcasing the work of local artists.

MEMORIAL COMMITTEE
The Memorial Committee announces that a limited number of scholarships will be available for current high school seniors who are members of Dennis Union Church. These prospective graduates must plan to further their education at a college or other appropriate institution of higher learning. The awards will be given to students based on financial need, academic achievement and character.Applications are available in the church office and must be returned to the Memorial Committee by April 1, 2012.
SPACE NEEDED
For many years the church has been the grateful recipient of donated space for storing Auction material. More than 10 years ago, Jeff Deck provided space at his landscaping business. When the business closed, Dot Bell stepped forward and allowed storage in her horse barn. Most recently the Chamberlain family, who manages Patriot Square, has generously donated storage space at the rear of Patriot Square.
We have been notified that the Patriot Square space will no longer be available following the 2011 Auction. We are hoping that someone has space that can be donated to store Auction materials. A barn, or part of a barn would be ideal, but any space immune from the effects of weather could work. It needs to be accessible by the Pick-Up Crew as they collect items throughout the year.
Please contact Clark Jamison, the Auction Committee person responsible for storage, if you can help.
Some of DUC youth visit with Gov. Patrick on the Dennis Village Green.
SHEPHERD NEEDED FOR OUR CARILLON
A good shepherd is needed to be responsible for the care of our carillon. This person would learn how to program the carillon, enter seasonally appropriate hymns, be on hand to override the system on occasion, and reset the system after power has been lost.We are basically looking for a replacement for Charlie Knights who so ably monitored and cared for this equipment before he moved to the West Coast. This would be a wonderful niche for a special person. If you think you might be interested, please get in touch with Judy Berrien, Chair of the Music Committee, 508 385 9455.
HOSPITALITY A PLEA FOR HELP! Would you consider providing refreshments for Fellowship Hour for a few months each year? Jane Springer has been organizing about four women to bring in tea/coffee/cookies, etc. for a long time. Each lady (or man) supplies the church with refreshments for about three months. Everyonegetsreimbursed by the church. It’s just a matter of getting the supplies to church! Please talk to Jane Springer (or contact the church office) if you are willing to lend a hand.
