WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP

The Dennis Union Church Women's Fellowship is pleased to announce the recipients of our two educational scholarship awards for the 2009-2010 academic year.

Katie Purcell has been an active member of DUC involved with our youth programs as well as Eventide.  She is an outstanding student at Dennis-Yarmouth High School.  Among her many activities, she has been a member of the Student Council, the National Honor Society, Class Officer, Editor of the School Newspaper and has been a tireless community volunteer.  She will attend Emerson College in the fall majoring in Marketing Communications: Public Relations and Advertising.  We are pleased to award her a $500 scholarship.

This year, the Women's Fellowship decided to open our scholarship awards to adults who are trying to improve their life by furthering their education in addition to high school students.  We are happy to give Mrs. Laurette Webster a $1,500 scholarship to help her continue her education at Wheelock College, which offers their courses at Cape Cod Community College, in Human Development/Early Childhood Education.  Laurette is a mother with two daughters who are members of DUC.  She has been working in our crib room on Sunday mornings for the past three years.  She currently works with Cape Cod Child Development located at Barnstable High School in Hyannis. Her references and academic records  are outstanding,  and  it  is  very  obvious that education is valued in her home. We are all aware of how difficult it is to work full time, manage a home and family and attend night school.  

Our scholarships will be paid directly to Emerson College and Wheelock College.  We wish both of these very deserving recipients an enjoyable and successful year.
