*CALL TO WORSHIP                        (unison)              Jane Springer

How beautiful upon the mountains

are the feet of the messenger

who announces peace,

who brings good news,

who announces salvation,

who says to Zion, "Your God Reigns."

Break forth together into singing,

for the Lord has comforted his people.

And all the ends of the earth shall see

the salvation of our God.

   (Isaiah 52)

 *INVOCATION PRAYER            (unison)               Judy Berrien

God of the heavens, God of the earth; God of eternity, God of each moment; be with us in this holy time together, as we forge lasting covenants in faith. Kindle our hearts with the warmth of your love; welcome us with the extravagance of your hospitality; renew us with the new life only you can give us; liberate us to the truth of your word; retell the old, old story here now, and in our lives. Dear God, open us to your call as your people. Amen.

LITANY OF MINISTRY           (responsively)          Betsy Brink

O God, who sent Jesus into the world

not to be ministered to, but to minister,

and to give his life to set others free,

shape us for your ministry.

Claim us, O God, for your service, and direct us toward your will.

You have graced all members of Christ’s body, one by one,

to lead lives worthy of your calling,

to be workers who love their work,

to shine as lights to your glory.

You have granted each of us the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

You give grace according to the measure of Christ’s gift,

and some are called to be apostles,

          some prophets

          some evangelists,

          some pastors and teachers,

to equip the saints for the work of ministry,

for building up the body of Christ.

Grant that together we may all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of your Son, to the full stature of Christ.

Through your grace, O God, may we lead a life worthy of the vocation to which you call us.

Claim us, O God, for your service, and direct us toward your will.

 *UCC STATEMENT OF

FAITH            Rev. Dr
.  Connie Bickford

We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father, to whose deeds we testify:

God calls the worlds into being,

creates us in the divine image,

and sets before us the ways of life and death.

God seeks in holy love to save all people

          from aimlessness and sin.

In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified

    and risen Lord,

          God has come to us

          and shared our common lot,

          conquering sin and death

and reconciling the world to the Creator.

The Holy Spirit has descended upon us,

creating and renewing the Church of Jesus

Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all

          ages, tongues, and races.

God calls us into the Church

to accept the cost and joy of discipleship,

to be servants in the service of others,

to proclaim the Gospel to all the world

and resist the powers of evil,

to share in Christ's baptism and eat at his

table, to join him in his passion and victory.

3

God promises to all who witness in faith,

forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace,

courage in the struggle for justice and peace,

God's holy presence in trial and rejoicing,

and eternal life in that reign which has no

                end.

Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto

           God.  Amen.
