Who We Support Financially

Through our church's mission budget, we contribute to many programs, both near and far. The recipients are reviewed each year and monies are allocated as necessary by the Missions / Outreach Committee. By clicking on any link below, you will be taken to that organization's website, if one exists.

Alliance House, Stoneham MA - a DYS run group home in Stoneham for troubled boys.

Andover-Newton Theological School, Newton MA - a United Church of Christ Seminary located in Newton Center .

Bangor Theological Seminary, Bangor ME - a United Church of Christ Seminary located in Maine

Bread & Roses, Lawrence MA - a soup kitchen that provides meals for approximately 225 needy individuals on any given day

Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Boston MA - Boston 's leading organization
to which homeless, high risk and runaway youth turn for help.

Christmas Giving Tree (FCC), Stoneham MA

Church World Service - works in partnership with churches and organizations all over the world to provide long-term development, emergency response, and assistance to refugees

City Mission Society, Boston MA - assists the poor through programs for youth and elders, social services, counseling, and summer camps

Emmaus Inc, Haverhill MA - provides short and long term housing to homeless families and individuals, job placement and life skill training and much, much more

God's Helping Hand Food Pantry, Stoneham MA – this FCC program provides groceries for members of the local community who are experiencing financial difficulties

Heifer Project International - provides animals and training to organized local groups around the world.

Hungry Helpers (FCC), Stoneham MA – provides a monthly meal to members of the local community who need sustenance or companionship

Massachusetts Bible Society, Boston MA - furthers biblical and theological study and reflection through educational programs, grants, and book services

Massachusetts Coalition For The Homeless, Boston MA - works to address the broad economic and social issues that lead to homelessness

Massachusetts Conference United Church of Christ, Framingham MA – one of 39 regional bodies of the United Church of Christ

My Brothers Table, Lynn MA - a soup kitchen that provides lunches and dinners for the poor and homeless, delivers meals and groceries to the homebound, operates a weekly food pantry, provides counseling services and much more.

New England Seafarers Mission, Boston MA - a fellowship ministry helping sailors from foreign countries

Partners In Health, Boston MA - an international health-care agency that serves the poorest of the poor in countries around the world

Protestant Chaplaincy Council, Melrose MA - supported solely by local churches, provides for an on-site Protestant minister at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital

Reach Beyond Domestic Violence, Waltham MA - provides a variety of services for battered women and their children

Salem Mission, Salem MA – serves the homeless and poor by providing shelter and meals as well as assistance in areas such as health care, mental health and substance abuse

UCC - Christmas Fund (Veterans of the Cross) – supports low-income retired clergy

UCC - Our Church's Wider Mission (OCWM) - contributions from UCC churches across the country support ministry and mission locally, nationally and around the world

UCC - One Great Hour of Sharing – contributions from UCC churches supports self-help programs to build sustainable communities, response to disasters, and aid to refugees


Who We Support Through Action

In addition to providing financial support, church members reach out by participating in a variety of activities that serve those in need.  Below is a brief description of our outreach activities.  If you're interested in participating, simply contact the listed individual.

ABC Quilt Project - A nation-wide project, quilts are made for babies with HIV and other serious illnesses. The quilts are sent to hospitals where the babies and young children live. Contact: Lorraine

Bread & Roses – The members of our church prepare a meal for Bread & Roses, a soup kitchen in Lawrence , MA . The meal is prepared for the last Saturday of each month which has five Saturdays, generally 4-5 times a year. The meal serves approximately 250 guests.  Contact: Lynn or Beth

Christmas Giving Tree – This FCC program brings joy to local families in need during the holiday season by providing gifts and much needed basics such as warm clothing.  Families are identified, gift ideas are received and church members purchase and wrap gifts. Contact: Lorraine or Lynn

City Mission Society (CMS) Christmas Shop - Each year CMS organizes a Christmas Shop where needy families and individuals are invited to come and select gifts for themselves and their children, generously donated by church members and other individuals.  Contact: Lorraine or Lynn

Community Dinners – Every Tuesday of each week, a hot meal is served to those in need of sustenance or companionship.  To learn more about this program and how you can help, click here.

God's Helping Hand Food Pantry - The food pantry is open to church members as well as local families who need a resource for food during tough times.  The pantry is stocked by members of our church as well as local businesses and organizations.  To learn more about this program and how you can help, click here.

Hungry Helpers – FCC members make up one of the five groups that comprises Community Dinners.   Hungry Helpers is responsible for providing the meal on the second Tuesday of each month.  Contact: Lynn or Beth

Prayer Shawl Program – Shawls (and afghans for men) are given to individuals who are in need of comfort and solace.  To learn more about the history and purpose of Prayer Shawl Ministry, visit Shawl Ministry Homepage.  To be included as a knitter or crocheter, contact Lorraine.

Seafarers Ditty Bags & Mending Kits - Members of our church sew ditty bags and mending kits for distribution by the Women’s Seafarers Friends Society.  The bags are filled with a variety of items and given out as Christmas gifts to seafarers who are away from home and family.  Contact: Lorraine

Thanksgiving Food In-gathering - An assortment of foods are collected and distributed to local families in need during the Thanksgiving season. Contact: Lorraine, Lynn or Sara

Toiletry Collection - Ongoing collection of travel sized toiletries for distribution to guests of Emmaus Inc. in Haverhill and Rosie’s Place in Boston.  New, unopened toiletries can be left in the collection basket in the church office.  Contact: Lynn

Warm Up America -  Volunteers knit or crochet 7" x 9" rectangles to create afghan blankets for individuals in need.  Sections are either joined or sent to Foundation headquarters for joining and distribution.  Contact: Lorraine
