Vacation Bible Days Summer 2011
We got together every morning during the last week in July from nine to noon. The theme this year was Creation and Care. On Monday, Lee Ann came to the big tent and introduced the kids to the wonders of bee keeping. We learned about bee behavior and had honey and crackers for snack. We went to Chase Hill Farm on Tuesday, where we saw Belgian Track Horses, cows, and pigs. We also learned how milk and cheese are processed, stored, and sold locally. Mark gave each kid a cheese-shaped eraser to take home and back at the tent, we had Jeanette's cheese for snack. Wednesday was another farm day. Jennifer and Olivier invited us to Hette Belle Farm where we saw cows, sheep, and pigs. Each day, the kids got to see animals that are well cared for and given the amount of space they need to thrive. On Thursday, Kristen, Cathy, and Matt opened our eyes to local wildlife (plants, birds, insects, and fish) as we rowed and paddled around Morse Pond. Afterwards, we took a well-deserved swim. We are grateful to those of you who provided counseling, workshops, field trips, transportation, and snacks, and to the Warwick Public Library for lending us the pond kits.
Thanks to all of you, Vacation Bible Days 2011 was another rip-roaring success!
