Small Groups are designed and intended to create greater connectivity among our church members in a way that allows us to get to know one another as well as our faith in a deeper way. We hope that you will consider becoming a member of such a small group.
Come and be Part of a Small Group Experience
You will get to know and be known by more church members. You will learn about yourself, about faith, about topics of interest and be energized for your daily life!

Called to Care Ministry
The Called to Care Ministry is an extension of our caring ministry to those in need, as well as to those who have a joyous event in their lives.
Volunteers participate in a comprehensive training program commencing with six, 1½ hour weekly sessions, some of which was conducted by trainers from the Mass Conference, and some by existing members. Training concentrates in areas such as communication, counseling, and prayer and explores the variety of ways and settings that caregiving can be performed. This equipped the caregivers to provide care to those most in need, one-on-one in the community. In addition to expanding the caring areas mentioned above, the trained lay members will be available to assist those with concerns and needs identified by the Pastor.
Who is visited? At the moment, there are people requiring support because of bereavement, a stay in hospital or other difficult experience, whilst others are coping with a new baby or having to care for a family member. Some people require only one visit, whilst others need multiple visits.
This is an exciting venture and is enriching the lives of many people. We are a congregation of caring, loving people and Called to Care is an excellent example of Christ working within our church.
Are you Called to Care?

The Prayer Shawl Group
Led by Ann Spalding
Knitters and crocheters of all levels of expertise are invited to join the Boxborough Church Prayer Shawl Ministry this fall. The history of this present ministry began in 1998 with a group of women who participated in the first Women’s Leadership Institute at Hartford Seminary. What started as a grass-roots movement has quickly grown into an international cause, with countless numbers of shawls being given to grateful recipients, women and men alike, around the world. Contact Anne Spalding at 978-263-2645 or annespalding@masslogic.com if you are unable to attend the meeting and would like further information.Prayer Shawl Ministry becomes the Prayerful Handwork Ministry
On Sunday, March 9th the Prayer Shawl Ministry enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. It was great for members from both the evening and afternoon Prayer Shawl groups to be together. We enjoyed delicious food and brainstormed ideas on how to go forward with our groups. Here are some of the changes/ideas we came up with:
·We will change our name from the Prayer Shawl Ministry to the “Prayerful Handwork Ministry”.This will allow us to work on other projects in addition to prayer shawls. Some examples would be creating blankets for Project Linus, Merrie Christmas Fair contributions and handmade items for other charities.
·The evening group will now meet once a month - on the first Thursday at 7pm in the “Old Organ Pipe Room”
·The afternoon group will continue to meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 2:3pm in the “Old Organ Pipe Room”
·We all felt that we should meet as a group for food and fellowship more often!
We would like extend an invitation to anyone who would like to join this ministry especially for those of you with a desire to learn a new handcraft. In the meantime here is our meeting schedule through the end of April:
·Wednesday, April 2nd at 2:30 p.m. Old Organ Pipe Room
·Thursday, April 3rd at 7 p.m. Old Organ Pipe Room
·Wednesday, April 16th at 2:30 p.m. Old Organ Pipe Room
Please contact Anne Spalding at 263-2645 or annespalding@masslogic.com for further information.
Small Group for Fun Activities
We would like to set up a small group to come up with ideas for fun activities for the congregation for the next year. They could be anything from going to a concert to having a picnic. These activities can be family or adult oriented. The idea is to have fun and get to know one another better.

Family Service Group
This group meets periodically to serve our local and global community. We are focussed on teaching our children about our collective responsibility to give back to the world in some way. Working as a family to serve others, we tackle projects like helping out local seniors with projects around their homes, pitching in at local food pantries, and collecting money and walking for causes like Global Hunger and Slave Trafficking. If you have an interest in serving your community in this way, please contact Dena Caradimitropoulo at mcdc728@comcast.net .
