The Called to Care Ministry is an extension of our caring ministry to those in need, as well as to those who have a joyous event in their lives.
Volunteers participate in a comprehensive training program commencing with six, 1½ hour weekly sessions, some of which was conducted by trainers from the Mass Conference, and some by existing members. Training concentrates in areas such as communication, counseling, and prayer and explores the variety of ways and settings that caregiving can be performed. This equipped the caregivers to provide care to those most in need, one-on-one in the community. In addition to expanding the caring areas mentioned above, the trained lay members will be available to assist those with concerns and needs identified by the Pastor.
Who is visited? At the moment, there are people requiring support because of bereavement, a stay in hospital or other difficult experience, whilst others are coping with a new baby or having to care for a family member. Some people require only one visit, whilst others need multiple visits.
This is an exciting venture and is enriching the lives of many people. We are a congregation of caring, loving people and Called to Care is an excellent example of Christ working within our church.
Are you Called to Care?
The Prayerful Handwork Ministry
Led by Ann Spalding
Knitters and crocheters of all levels of expertise are invited to join the Boxborough Church Prayerful Handwork Ministry this fall. The history of this present ministry began in 1998 with a group of women who participated in the first Women’s Leadership Institute at Hartford Seminary. What started as a grass-roots movement has quickly grown into an international cause, with countless numbers of shawls being given to grateful recipients, women and men alike, around the world. Contact Anne Spalding at 978-263-2645 or annespalding@masslogic.com if you are unable to attend the meeting and would like further information.

Small Group for Fun Activities
We would like to set up a small group to come up with ideas for fun activities for the congregation for the next year. They could be anything from going to a concert to having a picnic. These activities can be family or adult oriented. The idea is to have fun and get to know one another better.
Women’s Gathering
Led by women in the Church
Meets Monthly - Friday evening or Saturday morning.
The Women’s Gathering is a monthly event where women of the church and their friends meet to socialize, discuss spirituality, visit interesting places, or share a special topic or meal. The sessions are hosted by the women in our church and typically include a meal when we meet on Friday evenings. If you would like to host a Women’s Gathering, or have a suggestion for a topic, please contact Jane Shurtleff at jshurtleff@verizon.net, or 978-263-6824.
This group meets periodically to serve our local and global community. We are focussed on teaching our children about our collective responsibility to give back to the world in some way. Working as a family to serve others, we tackle projects like helping out local seniors with projects around their homes, pitching in at local food pantries, and collecting money and walking for causes like Global Hunger and Slave Trafficking. If you have an interest in serving your community in this way, please contact Dena Caradimitropoulo at
