Introducing a new ministry - The Homeschool Resource Group

The Homeschool Resource Group (HRG) is a covenantal outreach ministry to the local homeschool and Christian community created for the express purpose of promoting homeschooling in general, helping homeschool parents in particular, and emphasizing the importance of a consistent worldview in all education. The Homeschool Resource Group consigns and sells used curriculum and books as well as provides monthly support meetings, mentoring and special activities to all who seek assistance. We are looking for anyone considering or just starting out with homechooling that would like assistance in this new endeavor. Please contact us.

We are 'covenantal' in that our volunteers are not seeking any gain for themselves. This is a labor of love to help others sacrificially. We are looking for experienced and not so experienced homeschoolers who desire to reach out a hand to help others. A volunteer might be motivated to give back the help they had when they first started, or to provide help they wished had been available way back when. Please consider volunteering a small amount of time to HRG.

Also in the works at HRG is a comprehensive training course on developing a decidedly Christian World View. We will investigate God's view of the two spheres self and family government, and will outline the parental responsibilities implied by each. Keep checking back for updates and announcements on course dates, times and venues...

In the same vein, we have already prepared a one hour seminar about homeschooling for men entitled "For Men Only Don't (Just) LET Your Wife Homeschool." We can give this seminar at your church, support group, umbrella school meeting, Mens Breakfast, or other public or private venue, on request. Email us to request this seminar.

Introduction to Homeschooling

The HRG provides informal Introduction to Homeschooling support group meetings in a casual seminar format. Veteran homeschoolers are available to help answer your questions regarding homeschooling, whether you are planning to home school a preschooler, or you think you should pull your children out of a middle or even high school situation. We have experts that can help you formulate your own philosophy of education, and then walk you through the process of turning that philosophy into a educational goals and the means to reach them. Recent topics have included Homeschooling 101, Homeschooling and the Law, How to Homeschool While Avoiding Burnout, and Making Curriculum Choices.

These meetings are held usually on the fourth Monday of the month at Mariner's Church off Route 50 in Annapolis, Maryland.

  • 5:00pm - 7:00pm: Book Consignment Open
  • 7:00pm - 8:00pm: Meeting
  • 8:00pm - 9:00pm: Fellowship

Book Consignment Shop

The second major ministry of the HRG is the maintenance and operation of a mobile homeschool text and reference book consignment shop. These resources have been sorted and painstakingly organized by subject. The shop is available for browsing and purchasing on request. Those wishing to consign or donate their used homeschool text books may also do so, preferably on site on the days the shop is open. See the schedule below for details:

Usually the first Saturday of every month from 10:00am - 4:00pm.

Also open by appointment, please contact HRG via email to schedule an appointment using the link at the left:

The Homeschool Resource Group (HRG) is sponsored by Cornerstone Christian Academy (CCA). CCA is known as an umbrella school and is run by Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church (CEFC) of Pasadena, Maryland. We are an all-volunteer group sharing the common calling to assist homeschool families in complying with the Consolidated Code of Maryland (COMAR) laws and equally called in helping families realize their personal-level of homeschool excellence.

In keeping with this mission, CCA has gladly expanded to include helping others outside our oversight program through the HRG. Joining HRG DOES NOT provide legal oversight nor extend legal protection for a home-based instruction program. You do NOT have to be a member of either CCA or HRG to receive benefits from the group's ministry activities. Our focus is on providing this assistance as an outreach ministry at no cost to those who are helped/ministered to. However, if you have been helped by HRG, please consider contributing back to the organization (with your time and talents, not necessarily your treasure) to help the next person. We can only continue if we have enough volunteers to spread out the work involved. If you are interested in volunteering please contact us through email at our link on the left.
