Worship at Mt. Carmel is a joyful, thought-provoking and uplifting experience. Our Worship Committee meets quarterly to discuss and plan services designed to make the Lord come alive in the hearts of our congregation. There are several elements that come together to make our worship services outstanding.
The music at Mt. Carmel is exceptional because of the contributions of many. We are fortunate to have two excellent organists who alternate on Sunday mornings, and a wonderful choir and director who inspire and delight all those who hear them. Our children's choir also brings us special joy. Our hand bell choir adds a beautiful form of praise to the worship service. We have recently added a bluegrass band to the music program, drawing from even more of the talented members of our congregation.
Our Pastor, Scott Shumaker, is a creative and inspirational force behind our worship services. Whether it is encourging people to to seek insight through questions on his weekly sermons and following a weekly study guide asking questions on Biblical passages, giving the children's message with exciting energy and good humor, or delivering the sermon with much spirituality and guidance, Pastor Scott is our cherished leader and we are very thankful for him.
Several times a year, we combine our worship with other churches in our cluster offering special singing and liturgical dance. These wonderful services include Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Thanksgiving and a Christmas Cantata.
The Church marks the beginning of each liturgical season with the celebration of Communion. During the long season following Pentecost, Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month.
Mt. Carmel is a beautiful, historic church with warm and welcoming members. Come and see how the Holy Spirit lives through Mount Carmel!
