Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church

The Church at the CROSS Roads

 United Methodist Youth Fellowship

The United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) is open to all youth in middle and/or high school (grades 6 through 12). Meetings are held at the Mt. Carmel Education Building on the first and third Sunday of each month from September through June, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Meetings begin with a Bible study (topics chosen by the group) and singing, followed by a business/planning meeting and ending with refreshments and an activity or game. Youth members take turns planning activities and bringing refreshments.

Youth are a vital part of the life of Mt. Carmel Church. Several of our members are part of the Jr. Choir, the Sr. Choir and the Hand Bell Choir. Others participate in Sunday morning worship services by reading scriptures, being ushers and/or acolytes, or participating in dramas. Some also help in the nursery or act as a Sunday School Teacher's assistant for the younger classes. Som of the annual events our UMYF members look forward to are: Easter Sunrise Service and Lock-In; helping with the Community Easter Egg Hunt for young children, August swim party, Cluster Youth Winter Retreat, CROP Walk and Pizza Party, packing holiday dinners for Food Bank clients, and Market Place 29 AD.

Dedicated counselors work with our UMYF and keep in touch with youth and parents via a bi-monthly newsletter entitled "YOUth News". (The "YOU" in "YOUth" is capitalized to remind all of the group that "YOU are the most important part of YOUth.)

Youth help serve ice cream at the annual Strawberry Festival.
