About Redeemer
For over 40 years Redeemer Lutheran Church has been a vital Christian presence in the Greater Portland area. Originally meeting in South Portland, the charter service was held in 1962 with 55 people signing the charter roll. In 1965, the congregation purchased the site for its permanent church home on Spurwink Avenue in Cape Elizabeth. Groundbreaking was in 1967, and the new church building was dedicated one year later. The facility has continued to grow with expansions to the fellowship wing in 1980.
The congregation is comprised of people from many area communities who gather together for Christian worship, prayer, fellowship and service. Through programs and agencies of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, the Redeemer Congregation is able to reach out in worldwide mission and social care projects.
