PEOPLE MEETING NEEDS… People need some basic skills to survive in our world today. Any person who cannot read, write, or converse in his language lacks the basic tools to receive practical information, current events, good literature and God's Word. Learning these basic skills is a gain to collecting knowledge and tools to benefit oneself, his family and society.
The rise of the global economy, the internet, and population migrations from rural to urban areas and from one country to another has created the need for a universal language - which happens to be English. While becoming literate in one's own language is important, no one can ignore that English is essential for education, for work and for living. Family Baptist Church provides English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. They meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 pm. The curriculum used is designed for learning English as the international language. It has a simple step-by-step teaching methodology to help the student gain both an academic and practical knowledge of reading, writing and conversing in English. Each class encourages informal and fun-filled learning situations in which teachers and students might learn together and develop meaningful relationships. It addresses both practical and spiritual concerns that students face daily. The classes are designed to help people meet the needs of everyday life.
