NEW BIRTH

John 3:1-8

John 3:1-8

     Jesus told Nicodemus:

"Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (verse 3)."

Nicodemus responded, "How can a man be born when he is old?"

Jesus did not answer with details.  Rather He repeated the requirement: "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

Then He compared the new birth with the wind that blows.  We hear it buthave no knowledge of its source or destination.  Like the wind, thenew birth is a mystery.

An earnest young woman had been brought up in a faith which did not teach thenew birth.  She had believed in God since childhood and had even read the Bible regularly.  Then she began attending a church that taught the need to be born again.  She grew troubled because she was unable to recall a specific spiritual experience which she felt would qualify as new birth.  She had lived the life butneverheard the term.

An experienced Christian sensed her confusion and said, "Let's take your doubts to God n prayer.  Certainly He will sympathize; Christ was very helpful to Nicodemus."

Religious doubts should be handled in God's presence.  Conversion may be the work of a moment, but a saint is not made overnight.
