Zarephath Food Ministries

Zarephath Food Ministries was the first ministry started by Pastor Marty when he began his pastoralship at the Bryson City Church of God. Based on I Kings 17:8-10, it is a ministry that has one goal in mind: Helping Hurting People. When there is a death or great sickness in a family, or maybe someone does not have enough money for a hot meal, that is when a network of members from the Bryson City Church of God unite to prepare a hot meal for the unfortunate. Meals are prepared for Funeral Receptions and for people who are unable to cook due to an illness or injury. For more information on Zarephath's origional ministry of food, see the "Ask Pastor Marty" section on the homepage to request additional information, or see the contact information below.

Zarephath Senior Ministries

The Bryson City Church of God has always ministered to the Elders and Seniors of the church, but the ministry was organized under the direction of Senior Pastor Marty L. Pressley shortly after Zarepath's Food Ministry. Organized in 2006, Minister Eugene Moore became the first Minister in charge of Zarephath's Senior Ministries. The Seniors felt that it was their responsibilty to be a shining example and a light for the younger generations to point out the Old Path that lies amidst the darkness of this world. At their second meeting in the twelfth week of it's existence, the Senior Ministry took upon themselves the name "The Guiding Lights." After approximately a year, Senior Minister Moore heard God's call to return to the Field as an active, full-time evangelist. As he left to return to active evangelism "retired, yet refired," In-House Minister Linda Wike took over Evangelist Eugene Moore's position as Senior Minister, in 2007. The Guiding Lights are open to anyone who attends the Bryson City Church of God who are 50 years of age or older. If you are the spouse of someone who is 50 years or older, you may attend as well, even if you are not yet 50. The Guiding Lights meet once every six weeks on Saturday. Zarephath Nursing Home Ministries

The Nursing Home Ministry has been an important ministry for the Bryson City Church of God since the late 1970s. Every week, minister Linda Wike conducts a mini-service of singing, praying, and sharing the word at our local Mountain View Manor Nursing Center. Sometimes, she has Sunday School Classes take turns coming to the Nursing Home during Sunday School to conduct the service, with the teenagers being the most frequent visitors. Some days, she has a local gospel group fronted by her son-in-law, called James Shuler & Cornerstone, come and play for the hour. She has even had her grandson and his band, Cody Shuler & Pine Mountain Railroad, appear on several occasions. As mentioned above, the services are lead by minister Linda Wike with Debbie Winchester to help with singing, and musicians Lana Barker on the piano and Aileen McCoy on the guitar. If you have any questions or comments, please see the "Ask Pastor Marty" section on the home page of this website.

Zarephath Jail & Prison Ministries

Every Sunday morning, a group of men and women from the Bryson City Church of God go to conduct Sunday School and Service for the men and women at the Swain County Law Enforcement and Detention Center. The Services for the Women are led by minister Aileen Green and sister Linda Hitchew. The Services for the Men are led by minister Dale Green and brothers Aaron Birchfield, Shawn Winchester, and Paul Collins. The main goal of this ministry is to show and tell the way to the One who can actually set ALL Captives Free! If you have any questions or comments, please see the "Ask Pastor Marty" section on the homepage of the site.

Zarephath Rest Home Ministries

Prior to the founding of Zarephath Ministries, the Bryson City Church of God has always held a deep respect for senior citizens. Along side our Mountain View Manor Nursing Home ministry, we have had our Autumn Winds Rest Home Ministry. On certain Wednesday nights, Sunday School classes go to the rest home to sing and declare the Word. The first Monday of every month at 7pm, the Bryson City Church of God holds a singing at Autumn Winds, with the message being delivered by in house minister Brother Mathis. For any questions or comments, please see the "Ask Pastor Marty" section of the home page.
