Clayton Church of God of Prophecy
"We're not just a Church, we're a Family"

February 1974, Rev. Earl C. West came to Clayton with a burden on his heart to begin a mission in Clayton. The church began as a mission in a $65 a month rented building on Main St. Services were held regularly by Bro. Marlon Eason.

Clayton Church of God of Prophecy was set in order as a church on April 18, 1974 with 5 charter members and three transfers. Bro. Kenneth Thompson became the pastor in January of 1976. A church building was rented for $200 on August 9, 1981 which was a big step.

In August 1979, under the leadership of Rev. Kenneth Thompson, 6.19 acres of land was purchased. At this time there was 19 members. It was paid off in one year. A new church was built on this property. First Sunday in the new church was March 1, 1987.

The church today is still located just across from Pine Hollow Golf Course in Clayton in a beautiful setting with a pond.

A doublewide was also purchased as a parsonage. The church is debt free and rising...

 Praise be to God!
