"Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud and he shall hear my voice."Psm.55:17
Usually grace at meal times is a way of thanking God for His goodness and for who He is. Perhaps this was what the psalmist was thinking when he said that he would pray in the morning (breakfast), at noon (lunch) and evening (dinner). Maybe-Maybe not! The bigger point is this: Take time all throughout your day-every day, to pray to the Father. Acknowledge who He is and what He means to you. And don't forget the psalmist said "...he shall hear my voice", be assured that He will hear yours as well. |

"In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me."Psalm 56:11
Trust is a tricky thing. It is difficult to put our trust in others, because we can't be sure whether they will value it or not. Fortunately, that fear does not have to be a factor when it comes to putting our trust in God. He guards our trust and never hurts us. He will follow us to the ends of the earth to make sure we know of His great love. |

"Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul."Psm.69:1
Do you ever feel like life is just an effort to "stay afloat"? Sometimes it seems like "leaks" spring up all around us. Remember, the Lord is watching over you and He will never let the waters rise above your head. His loving kindness keeps us afloat and rescues us when troubled waters threaten us. |

"...but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by."John 8:59
Did you get that at first reading? Jesus hid himself, but went through the midst of them. Hidden in the middle of them. How do you hide in the wide open. Here's the point: You may feel like Jesus is hiding from you, but He's still in your midst. If Jesus feels far off from you and you think He's hiding, be encouraged. The Lord says we will find Him when we seek for Him with our whole heart. If Jesus seems to be hiding, keep seeking, walk by faith and continue to trust. |

"to those who have obtained like precious faith with us..."2 Peter 1:1b
Precious faith! I wanted to take an opportunity today to remind you that the salvation faith we have in Christ is precious. Sometimes if we are not careful we begin to take our salvation for granted and forget just how costly it was; it cost Jesus Christ is life! Today take time to thank God for this precious salvation and live with a fresh zeal and joy knowing your relationship with Jesus is precious!:-) |

"Beware, brethern, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief
in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily while it
is called "Today", lest any of you be hardened through the
deceitfulness of sin." -Hebrews 3:12&13
That is the reason for this devotion, to encourage one another and to
help guard against unbelief, discouragement, and disappointment
that may try to "creep' into our lives and hinder our relationship with
God through Jesus Christ. I challenge you today to share this devo
with someone and encourage them in their Christian journey

"And when He had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a
mountain apart to pray." -Matthew 14:23
This scripture is squeezed between to great miracles (The Feeding
of 5 Thousand & Jesus walking on the water). Catch this: after the
great feeding with only 5 loaves and 2 fishes, the disciples hurried to
the boat but Jesus departed and prayed. It was this prayer time that
prepared him to walk on the water. Lesson: After great victories
don't be in such a hurry to move on that you forget to get alone with
God and be prepared for upcoming storms by seeking His face in
prayer.

"...and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."
-Matt.6:6b
Todays text is found in Christ's teaching in Matt.6. Here's the
principle that I want you to know: If you will show up for God in
private, He'll show up for you in public. Many of us want God to do
great things in our lives and the lives of our friends and family
members, but how many of us are seeking God in our secret places.
Take some time today to get away from the business of the office,
factory or home and spend some secret time with God. It will be
worth it!! |

"If someone says, 'I love God', and hates his brother, he
is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how
can he love God whom he has not seen?" -I John 4:20
Pretty powerful! Is there someone at your workplace, community, or
even home whom you have a difficult time loving? If so, remember
we are commanded by God to love everyone! Remember, love is
not just a feeling, it's a decision. Today decide you are going to
love God and everyone else. |

"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine." -Proverbs 17:22
Have you heard that it takes more muscles to frown than it does to
smile:-) Make an effort today to be happy. As the popular song from
the 80's said, "Don't worry be happy"! So think of something good,
happy or funny, and put a big smile on. If nothing else smile
because it's FRIDAY!!!!!! |
5/20/02
It's Monday and my question for you today is: "Do you feel
blessed?". For many of us Mondays can be difficult. After very busy
weekends, it seems like we're already tired before the work week
begins.
Psalms 32:1 says "Blessed is he whose transgression
is forgiven."
So if you've asked Christ to forgive you of your sins and be your Lord and Savior, it doesn't matter what day of the week it is
or how you feel in your body or mind, the fact is you are blessed!
Have a great Monday and decide now this will be a wonderful week |
5/21/02
Rainy days are loved by farmers, snowy days are loved by children
who can stay home from school, storms are loved my mystery fanatics, gray days are loved by romantics, and sunny days are
loved by picnicers. Warm days are loved by beach goers, and cool days are loved by those who stroll.
Psalm 118:24 reads "This is the
day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.",
All days have their purpose under heaven! Enjoy today, afterall, it is the
day that the Lord hath made!

Romans 6:1 asks if we should continue in sin? Of course the answer
is no, or as vs.2 says "God forbid". When you disect sin down to it's
root you'll find that it is basically 'selfishness'. Putting what we want before what God desires. That is basically what every sin is. I
encourage you today to not let your own desires,no matter how
good or justifiable they may seem, to come before what God desires for you.

5/23 - 5/24/02
"...to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to
him it is sin." -James 4:17
Don't you just squirm when verses like this cut you to
the bone? It's not enough to know what is good and right, we must
also do what is right. Today, let your knowledge of God and
righteous living move beyond your brain and effect HOW you live.
The truth of the matter is if we don't, we are sinning:-(
