Meet Our Pastor
Rev. Donald R. Thompson
Rev. Thompson is a graduate of Elon College(1973 BA), North Carolina and Southeastern Theological Seminary (1976 MDiv.), Wake Forest, North Carolina. He has previously pastored Mt. Zion Christian United Church of Christ, Mebane, NC (1970-76) and Zion United Church of Christ, Thomasville, NC (1977-92). He began his pastorate at Shallow Well on January 1, 1993. Rev. Thompson and his wife of 30+ years, Faye, have two sons, one grandson and two granddaughters.
Our Associate Pastor
Rev. Stephen T. Owen
Stephen is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University, holding a BS degree, and is currently enrolled at Campbell University School of Divinity in the Master of Divinity program. He is also seeking a Master of Business Administration from Campbell University. Stephen has worked with Lifeway Ridgecrest Center with children and youth, as well as being active on several mission trips, and other youth work. He is a native of Black Mountain, NC. Stephen, wife Emily and son Jaxson reside in Harnett County. Stephen's responsibilities include working with youth, young families, small groups and assimulating visitors and new members into the life of our congregation.
Shallow Well Church
Formally known as Shallow Well Congregational Christian Church, the church was founded in 1831. We have a long tradition of faithfulness in Christ's service. Currently we have 400+ members on roll, with an average attendance that approaches 200.
Shallow Well might be described as a traditional congregation that is not afraid to venture into new areas of ministry. After all, our ancestors were the Pilgrims. We believe that God has called us to change the world in Christ's name.
There's a place for you at Shallow Well. Whether you are young, middle age, or a senior citizen, you'll fit right in. "No matter where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here." We are blessed to have a broad range of people, and we seek to minister to all.
Shallow Well will provide you with an opportunity to know Jesus Christ personally, to find the love and friendship of many who care about you, and a place to serve our Lord according to your talents.
