Blessed Holy Week to all!
We enjoyed a sacred Maundy Thursday evening together last night with nearly 80 in attendance. If you missed out, again the texts were John chapters 13, 17, & 18. You can read on your own on this Good Friday or Holy Saturday. But without the rooster sound effect, it definitely won't be the same! In addition, it is not the same without being surrounded by blessed faith community. But let that blessing extend to you as you read this.
EGG HUNT - Sunday 9:15 AM - all kid guests welcome! (hundreds of eggs will be hid!-if anyone can help Saturday at 3:00, this would be great!) We will have two different rooms, one for really little ones and the other room for kids for whom little objects won't pose a danger.
EASTER worship - 10:30 AM. Reading from John 20 which opens with the Garden Tomb.
Consider yourselves all deputized into Shepherd service this Sunday as we help one another out on a busy and glorious Sunday.
Blessings & prayers, Pastor Sarah
Top o' the week to all!
Thank you to everyone for your love and care especially seen in our fellowship last Wednesday evening March 17. Don't forget to drink extra fluids and be kind to your body for the upcoming Blood Drive here after worship Sunday March 21.
Prayers for those ongoing concerns of the heart---regarding relationships, health, work, and calling and purpose in life. Prayers for those on paths of recovery and treatment. Sending you assurance of God's steadfast love which endures forever. It is a mighty love that is our partner when we seek God from a stance of humble spirits.
Texts for 3/21/10: 1. Exodus 20:1-21 We studied the first "table of the law" last week (vss 1-12) and now we focus on the latter 5 commandments (vss 13-21).
2. John chapter 11 - "Jesus wept," the shortest verse of the Bible is found in this famous story of Lazarus being raised from the dead.
Blessings in your journey of respect and reverence for God across the balance of the week.
Pastor Sarah
3/14/10
Greetings Faithful Pilgrims!
Blessings for your week. Thank you for your love, graciousness and care---evidence of the Holy Spirit which honors God & nourishes the rest of us!
1. Don't forget to set your clocks ahead an hour before going to bed Saturday night. And why not go to bed an extra hour early, too? (see the Torah lesson excerpt for a reason why.)
2. Torah lesson excerpt from Exodus 20 "Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord. The Lord created across six days and rested on the seventh. It is a blessed day." Yes, this week we are focusing on the first half (5) of the 10 Commandments. We are studying John 10 -full of sheep & shepherds-for the Gospel.
3. Hope to see you on our Sabbath after a night of good rest.
Prayers: for Larry Melton in the death of his sister Martha on Wednesday. Ongoing prayers for Larry and Mary Lou and their family as their son-in-law Greg transitions to the arms of his Shepherd after long illness.
In Christ, Pastor Sarah
PS Youth/Young at Heart: 1. Lunch and bowling after your choir practice this Sunday Mar 14. 2. And Auntie Helene (Scholarship Maven) has probably already been after you to sign up for summer camp.
Blessings and greetings to all.
Thank you again for the ways you build Christ's body here. The caring and joyous energy keeps increasing. May God find us this way independent of the weather (but the weather does seem to help...Or, maybe it is just good potluck food on Wednesday--what a great turn out!).
Texts for this Sunday include Torah excerpts from Exodus 15:22-17:7 (three stories of complaining in the wilderness as well as the origins of "manna.") and John 9 (an exploration of blindness and seeing).
Prayers for Byron Simmons & family in the loss of Byron's step father and as Byron travels to & from Washington State.
Prayers of joy for several of you who have been in and now are out of hospitals and doctoring this week.
Prayers for those going through ongoing treatment and diagnosing. Prayers of deliverance from pain.
Blessings and prayers to you all and assurance that God sees, heals and loves, Pastor Sarah
