Trinity Episcopal Church in Moorestown, New Jersey

Dear Parishioners,

Our music season is in full swing and on behalf of our choirs I invite you to attend the service of Choral Evensong in November and the Advent Lessons and Carols in December. Details are listed below.

In other news, on November 1 at 5:00 p.m. the choir of historic St. Peter’s Church at Third and Pine in Philadelphia will sing my Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis at Evensong. Also, on November 10 at noon I will play a short recital on the beautiful new mechanical action organ at St. Peter’s Church in the Great Valley, in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The recital is part of the Philadelphia American Guild of Organists Tuesday noon recital series, and will include works by Buxtehude, Walther, and Bach. I hope some of you can attend these events!

Music at Trinity Church

The purpose of music at Trinity Church is to express and illuminate the liturgy, to give voice to the Christian spiritual experience, to draw the worshiping community together, and to lead Gods people in the way of Jesus Christ.

    • As an aspect of sacred liturgy, music reflects the formality, beauty and tradition found in the rituals of the church, the architecture of the sanctuary, the vestments worn by the clergy and choir, and the spoken word as prescribed by the Book of Common Prayer.
    • Music strives to express our most profound understanding of the living Christian faith, and is therefore the very best we can offer.
    • Music, whether sung or heard, is part of our communal experience of faith, and looks to the Anglican tradition as a source of inspiration and identity.
    • Music in its harmony and beauty ultimately teaches; it demonstrates a way of being and seeing that helps us "go forth into the world, rejoicing in the power of the Spirit."
