We here at St. John's have a large number of ministry opportunities at our parish. If you'd like more information, or if we can ever be of any help to you, please contact the persons listed below, Fr. Frank Wilson or the Church Office.

St John's Community Kitchen

St. John's Community Kitchen is open every Tuesday and Thursday Evening from 5 to 6pm to any one who needs a hot meal. The Community Kitchen is served by St. John's parishioners, other churches around the community and volunteers from squadrons at Holloman Air Force Base. If you'd like to volunteer your time, money or any food items, Please call the Church Office at 437-3891.

St. John's Music Ministry

St. John's Choir is always looking for a few good voices. The Choir meets Sunday Morning at 9:30 am and provides musical support for the 10:15am service. Instrument players are also welcome to add their gifts to the service if they so desire. Lay Eucharistic Ministers

LEMS can serve as Lectors, Intercessors, and Chalice Bearers during the our weekly service and take communion to the homebound, members in nursing homes, and members in hospitals. Training is available anytime during the year and require four sessions for new trainees. New LEMS are then licensed through the Diocese of the Rio Grande for a period of one year. You must be a confirmed Episcopalian to volunteer. Harbingers

Harbingers serve as greaters and ushers at the 10:15am Service. They also collect and take up the offering as well as the elements for communion. If you'd like more information, please contact Bill Woltz at 434-2943.

Acolytes

Acolytes assist the celebrant during the Holy Eucharist and other services.  They generally serve as torchbearers, crucifiers, thurifers, lighters of candles as well as other ceremonial functions during Sunday and other services. The Acolyte Ministry is open to children 7 years and older as well as adults. St. John's Prayer Chain

St John's Prayer Chain is made up of people who pray for others who are in need of healing. Current Prayer Chain Members include

The Chain asks a person serve for three months at a time for the year. If you are interested in joining the Prayer Chain, please contact Boogee Wotz at 434-2943.

Altar Guild

The members of the Altar Guild provide for the suitable furnishing and decoration of the Altar and to take care of its appointments. If you would like to be apart of this important ministry, please contact Jane Bedwell 434-2333 or Marie Dorrough at 434-5891.

The Order of St. Luke 

The International Order of St Luke the Physician is an ecumenical group open to any person desiring to be involved in Christian healing ministry. St. John's is currently host to the Alamogordo study group. Group meetings include study of biblical healing encounters of Jesus and prayer for the healing need of the parish and surrounding community. The Order currently meets every 2nd and 4th Thursday in the Parish Library. Daughters of the King

The Daughters of the King is a national Episcopal organization for women stressing prayer, study and service. The St. John's chapter currently meets for bible study every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month at Katie Musch's home at 1207 N. 12th Street.
