The scripture is clear for all to read and understand that it was “by one man” (“the first man Adam” – 1 Cor. 15:45), that “sin entered into the world and death by sin.” It is also equally clear for all to read and understand that “by Man (The second Adam, our Lord Jesus Christ) came also the resurrection of the dead.”

While it is true that there has been a passing from a death (state of being) unto life in our spirit (referred to as our initial salvation experience of being saved, or being born again), that has nothing to do with the condition of being mortal. Being mortal applies to the realm of our flesh bodies in which we live. Mortality does not apply to the realm of spirit, even though some consider the sinner or unbeliever to be ‘spiritually dead,’ however, the condition of mortality of the spirit is impossible for there is no death in the realm of spirit. In saying that, we have to realize where our spirit came from, and when we do, we realize that it was God who fathered our spirit! (Heb. 12:9). The apostle Paul is deliberate in making the distinction of who it was that fathered us in the flesh realm, and who it was who fathered us in our spirit realm. God being the Father of our spirit means that He did NOT Father dead spirits! So, the thought of someone being ‘spiritually dead’ is impossible. Our spirits which were fathered by God became non-responsive to God through Adam’s act of transgression and disobedience, as it is commonly thought, he became separated from God (which again, is an impossibility), but once again, his spirit never became mortal, or in a dying state of being as the flesh body does.

The body in which we presently live is in a state of being mortal (dying), and that state of being came upon all humanity born of the “first man Adam” (1 Cor. 15:45; John 3:6), after the flesh. The house (body) in which we presently live was brought into that state of being mortal because of who it was that previously occupied the house.

I think a good example of this is described by the experiences that my wife, Barbara and I have had when we moved into a house that had been previously occupied by someone else. We remember certain occasions when we would rent a house and have to do some real deep house cleaning before we could move into it. The previous occupants had left the house in a mess, and before we could move into it and be comfortable to live there we had to do some serious house cleaning.

Likewise, the bodies (houses) we presently live in are in a real mess because of its previous occupant, the first man Adam! Our bodies (houses) are filled with sickness, weakness, and the awful smell of the (carnal) flesh nature of Adam. All of us were born into this awful mess of mortality because we were the offspring of the first man Adam. Notice we place special emphasis on the word “were” for we are now no longer the offspring of that first man Adam! This is very important for all of us to understand. As believers in Jesus Christ we MUST renounce and repudiate that identity in the first man Adam after the flesh!

Our bodies (houses) we presently live in are the places of abode here on earth in the visible realm of God’s creation. Being born into this world as the offspring of the first man Adam we inherited his mortal state of being in our bodies. But remember, we are NOW no longer his offspring! In fact, the man who once was our father after the flesh and mortal state of being is now dead. Of course everyone can understand that the first man Adam did die many thousands of years ago, for he lived on earth for only 930 years then he died. (Genesis 5:5).

Today I am writing to all those who are believers in Jesus Christ, those who have been “born again,” or, (literally, born back up from above by the Spirit of God). (John 3:1-8, 15-17; John 10:10). Remember, Jesus told Nicodemus that that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. As believers in Jesus Christ we have received that spiritual re-birth or re-generation of our “inner man” of spirit. The physical bodies (houses) we live in now once had an occupant – (the first man Adam) who was evicted, but has left the house in a terrible mess – but NOW there is a new occupant (the second Man Adam, The Lord) who resides in our house body) who is the true Master over His own house.

Now we are coming into the real purpose of this writing, and it is here that we must understand that it is impossible for these two men to co-inhabit the same house! Many (Christians) are trying to live in such a mentality, and to do so, is to try to serve two masters, having a dual mindedness. The first man Adam, who once lived in this house (body), forfeited that right to be the master over our house (bodies) because of his transgression. The sentence of death that came upon him because of his transgression was carried out when he died after living for only 930 years. But the state of mortality which he brought upon himself, was passed on to all his offspring, and this has lasted over the centuries of time, but now is soon to be thrown off by those who are becoming fully identified in the “second man Adam,” our Lord Jesus Christ.

The carnal (flesh) mind (which has long been understood as the soul, the mind, emotion and will of the first man Adam) that has ruled over these physical bodies (houses) is typified in scripture as being the feminine part of our being. For the scripture states that we are; spirit, soul and body. (1 Thes. 5:23). It is the soul/womb (or the feminine aspect of our being) which has the ability to conceive and give birth. The apostle James illustrates this in his epistle.

Let us understand that the whole activity of being “tempted” takes place within the realm of a person’s mind (the soul). This same act of temptation that James describes was the very same temptation which took place in Eve’s mind (soul). The seduction which took place in her mind (soul) happened because she DID NOT first consult her head (Adam) which was her spiritual counterpart. She by herself was incapable of making a correct judgment (decision), therefore she was seduced (led astray) by the “knowledge” that was presented to her from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and when she ate (partook of that fruit into her womb/mind) she conceived, and out of that conception she brought forth death. The Law of “sin (which is missing the mark of being obedient to God’s commandment/word) and death” was now in force in her and all her offspring. Adam also became a partaker of the same fruit that his wife Eve had eaten, so now they both were participators in this act of disobedience. (1 Tim. 2:12-14) Adam was responsible for his wife’s actions therefore he partook of the same fruit – knowing that in the future Jesus Christ would be born through their lineage (Luke 3:23-38) to redeem them AND all their children from their terrible disobedience. (All this is the subject of another message).

Eve had been seduced; she had become unfaithful by committing adultery when she partook of the knowledge of good and evil from that tree. This was a mental act of fornication committed in the realm of her mind as she heard, received the thoughts, and (conceived) them in the womb of her mind until they manifested through her in disobedience to God’s commandment.

When we entered into this world, we did so already in a state of sin and mortality. The law of sin and death which begin to operate and rule in Adam and Eve was passed on to their successive generations after the flesh. When we were born into our bodies (houses) of mortal flesh it was our very nature to sin and to die. We had all been “born of the flesh” as Jesus described to Nicodemus. (John 3:6).

Enter now the Gospel (the good news) of Jesus Christ, The Saviour of the world!

Also, enter the fact of truth that we are born of the Spirit!

There has already taken place within all who are believers in Jesus Christ a RE-UNION of our spirit with the Spirit of the Lord.

The illicit union of physical bodies is called fornication. If we take our bodies (houses) (which are the members of Christ’s body) and join them into an illicit union and affair with the houses of man’s religion (the harlot – Rev. 17:5) that is also an unholy union. (Rev. 18:4). “Not discerning the Lord’s body.”

But the point here is this; we that are now “joined unto the Lord are ONE spirit!” For that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (John 3:6). When we were born of the Spirit, our spirit was brought back into union in the spirit of the Lord and we are now ONE spirit in Him. Our “Inner Man” is our spirit which is one in the spirit of the Lord!

The spirit within Adam became non-responsive to God because he believed the lie that came from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which caused him to think in his heart and believe that he had lost the abiding Presence of the Spirit of the Lord God, causing him to lose that glory of the Lord that was his inherent covering (clothing). This all has been wonderfully reversed now as we are brought back to the Lord and receive His salvation. (Eph. 2:4-8).

As we have already stated; there has already taken place within us the RE-UNION of our spirit into union and one in the spirit of the Lord. The spirit of man has long been understood as the masculine part of our being, while the mind is the feminine counterpart of our being, with the body (house) being neuter in gender (that is, it can be either, male or female).

As we follow the order of our being we find that it is spirit, soul and body. Therefore, the next union to be made in our being is the union of our soul with our spirit which is now one in the Spirit of the Lord. This is the reverse order of what happened when Eve partook of the tree of knowledge, for she did NOT consult Adam, her spiritual head. Eve entered into an illicit union with the knowledge presented to her from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (remember this affair is taking place within her mind).

There must come forth a RE-NEWING of our mind, in other words, a RE-TURNING of our mind (soul) back into union once again under the headship of our spirit, which has now been RE-UNITED into union and made one in the Spirit of the Lord! (John 17:21-23). As this reunion is made it becomes the marriage union of our soul/mind with our spirit MAN. When Eve was taken out of Adam’s side she then stood outside and alongside and apart from him. Now our Eve (soul/mind) is being brought back into ONE in marriage union with our spirit Man, our mind/soul becoming one in the mind of Christ in the New Creation Man that we now are IN Christ! (2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 6:15; Eph.:10). There is a decision to be made within our thinking/mind, and that decision involves the renouncing and repudiating our union with the first man Adam and his house (body), making the conscious decision of our love union with our Inner Man in Christ Jesus.

This is where our mortal bodies are to be swallowed up – into the life of our Inner Man!

We (in our bodies) are being swallowed up from within! This is the way the apostle Paul described the change of our mortal bodies as they are brought into (or swallowed up into) the state of incorruptibility and immortality. (1 Cor. 15:50-58; 2 Cor. 5:1-9) For you see, we are a house (body) within a house (body). And the outer body (house) which became all messed up by the first man Adam is NOW to be made “whole” (“sanctified wholly” 1 Thes. 5:23), by being brought into holy union into the One New Creation Man in Christ Jesus.

The hour in time has come for all the Lord’s true believers to understand the true identity of who they are! The first man Adam is NOT who you are, nor is your mortal body (house) which Adam messed up the real YOU. The real you is who you are in union in Christ Jesus our Lord! For we are HIS Body (His House)! And the beautiful truth unfolding within us today is that HE is making HIS appearing; first, within us, then to us, and then through us as us! Yes, it is HIM we shall see! Aren’t you glad?

There is an ascension being made today out of our earthliness into His heavenliness (1 Cor. 15:49) that He IS within us. We cannot make that ascension by trying to pull ourselves up by our own boot-straps, nor by trying to hang on to the coat-tail of someone else who is making this ascension. Our ascension is made as we are personally apprehended by the Spirit of the Lord and raised up by Him in the Spirit and by the Spirit. That ascension in Him has been made already by our spirit, and that ascension is now being made by our soul/mind as it (she) is being cleansed and brought back into holy union and marriage in Him who is her Head, even Christ Jesus. Then follows the ascension to be made by our bodies (houses) of flesh as they are changed, and transformed in His Presence (2 Cor. 3:17-18) to be fashioned just like His glorious body.

Our looking, or our vantage point is in heaven, or the realm of the Spirit, that is where we look for our Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall change our vile humiliated bodies (houses) which the first Adam messed up, fashioning us like unto His (our Lord’s) glorious body (house) according to the working whereby HE IS ABLE to subdue all things unto himself. So, it is NOT left up to us my friend, it is our Lord’s working in us by the Spirit.

As we walk with our feet touching the dust of this earth, our true HOMELAND is not of THIS world (present arrangement of things), but of that heavenly world (kingdom which is coming to earth in and by Him through us)! “THY KINGDOM COME!” Hallelujah.
