There’s a lot of emphasis in the evangelical circles today focused toward the welfare of the nation of Israel. It seems that all the other nations on the face of the earth are of little importance in their prayer efforts for the peace and safety of their people. Lately, signs have gone up across the United States calling people to prayer for the nation of Israel. The evangelical mega churches such as the one in San Antonio, Texas aim to draw people’s attention to that nation under the pretense that to do so is to definitely gain God’s blessing and favor upon your life. They also teach that the people living in that so-called, ‘holy city’ are God’s chosen and favored people above all the other people living on earth. They also teach that it is God’s will for them to build (rebuild) a physical temple on the site where at present a Muslim Mosque now stands. It is their aim and goal to somehow build their temple on or near that site so they can reinstate the Old Covenant mode of worship.
It is their belief that unless they build that temple in Jerusalem, the Messiah (Christ) will not come. They believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was an imposter and not their Messiah. When I say, “they” I am referring to the Jews living in Jerusalem who believe that their Messiah has not yet come, and as we previously stated; believe that Jesus Christ was not their Messiah but an imposter. The ancient Jews who lived in Jerusalem during the time when Jesus Christ came into the world; they rejected as being their King (Messiah), furthermore, THEY crucified Him.
What is most astounding to me is to see the so-called Christian community (evangelical Christians); proclaim that Jesus Christ is their Messiah (the Christ) and their Saviour, to say that the religion of Judaism is also to be embraced in order to enhance their Christian faith. Isn’t this one of the main issues which the apostle Paul addressed in many of his letters to the churches?
The declaration of the establishment of the State of Israel came on May 14, 1948, since that time that nation has solicited the favor of the United States as its prime ally and supporter. It has almost been a prerequisite for any President of the United States to back the nation of Israel against their enemies, namely their arch rival the Moslem’s.
