Almond Union is 200 years old!

In 2012, Almond Union of Churches will be celebrating it's 200th birthday!

The first service of the Presbyterian Church in Almond was held on May 6, 1812.  On May 6, 2012, we will be having a celebration banquet and rededication of our church building to the service of God.  But our anniversary celebration won't just be a one time thing.  There will be something for everyone, all year long!

Some of the things we are planning include:

  • January - A time line will be put together in the Fellowship Hall

  • February - Enter a Theme Contest - both Adult and Children catagories

  • March - Help us write 200 prayers, and collect 200 items of food for our pantry!

  • April - Choir Recital with songs from both Chancel Choir and Kid's Club

  • May - Banquet and Rededication of our Church Buildings on actual anniversary day!

  • June - Craig Braack will give a historic look at the history of Almond, and the Church

  • July - Open House - Chicken BBQ, entertainment, games

  • August - Old Time Tent Revival on church grounds

  • September - Float in Almond Days Parade with 200 year theme

More ideas are being discussed.  If you have an idea, please contact the church office and let them know.

Help us look back, as we seek to be faithful witnesses in the future.

200th Anniversary Event Theme Contest

You are invited to participate in a 200th Anniversary Event Theme Contest!  You can come up a specific theme for the churches special anniversary, including artwork for a poster and banner.  The winners artwork will be displayed in the church and on all marketing materials for the event.

For the kids, a poster contest is being held.  Any poster with a faith based theme will be accepted.  All kids can enter - enter as many times as you like!

Entered artwork will be displayed, and the winner will be recognized at the Anniversary Banquet on May 6.

Deadlines for both adult and kids class entries will be February 26.  Please submit all entries to the church office.  If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Steve (Pastor@AlmondUnionChurch.org).

Have fun!  Be Creative!  Express the history of the church.
