The Almond Union of Churches is in many ways, like any other church congregation anywhere in the world. Yet it is also a unique fellowship. Like any other church, our life is rooted in a common faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and our ministry is characterized by his presence in our midst. But at the same time, our church has a history and nature which is unlike any other.

Officially, the Almond Union of Churches is a union of American Baptists and Presbyterians. Unofficially, we are a community church, with several other denominations represented as well. The Presbyterian Church in Almond was formed in 1812, and the Baptist church in 1826. After nearly a century of co-existence in Almond, these two congregations joined together in 1924. So for over half a century now, the Almond Union of Churches has been a truly ecumenical expression of the local church, a community church in the best sense of the term.

As a union church, we are full participants in the Presbytery of Geneva, Synod of the Northeast, General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, USA on the Presbyterian side, and in the Allegany-Cattaraugus Association, New York State Region, and American Baptist Churches, USA on the Baptist side.

Membership is open to all Christians through baptism, confirmation, transfer of membership, or by profession of faith. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated regularly as an expression of our fellowship in Christ and our dedication to His ministry.
