Sunday Worship at 10:30 a.m

A "fusion" liturgy combining ancient rituals, traditional  hymns, Gospel preaching with applications to everyday life, terrific choir, great community and a whole lot of fun AND GUILT FREE!

Anointing during the Sunday Service the first Sunday of every month.

NOVEMBER

November 22:  THE ANNUAL MEETING AND LUNCH.  Takes place after the worship service. At this meeting we will pass the budget for 2010 and elect new vestry members.  The rector will give the State of the Church speech.  Lunch will be provided.  Pledging members have a voice and a vote at this meeting. 

NOMINATIONS FOR VESTRY: We hav received two nominations for positions open on the vestry. For Junior Warden, DENNIS BYCZNSKI. Dennis has been an active member of Ascension for some time, serving on the vestry as well as on the Search Committee.  He serves as treasurer. He is married to Shirley who is well known to our Ascension family. For the open terms of three years, RUTH TWIDLE. Ruth has served on the vestry, is active on the Finance Committee of Ascension. She works as an RN at St. Francis convalescent Home in North Buffalo and  LUCINDA "PETE" CORNELL, the lay associate and member of the congregation.  Pete works as a school counsellor for troubled teens as well as exploring her journey to ordained diaconal minister. JIM ESTEP is up for re-election to a three year term.  Earlier in the year DENNIS BYCZYNSKI was elected in a special election by the vestry to fill out a remainder term and will serve one more year. TOM ZIMPFER continues as Senior Warden for one more year.

Thursday, November 26: NATIONAL DAY OF THANKSGIVING.  We will hold our service of gratitude at 10:00 a.m. in the church.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 29:  FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT.  We begin our new liturgical season in preparation and anticipation.

DECEMBER

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 12:  DINNER AND A MOVIE "The Trouble with Angels" starring Haley Mills, Rosalind Russell and Mary Wicks.  Fun and wacky times at a convent school for girls in pre-Vatican II times.  Rosaline Russell plays the role of Mother Superior.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 13:  The Early Music Chorale of Western New York concert "Tis the Season" offering medieval and early Renaissance songs and readings.  5:00 p.m.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19:  Decorating and cleaning the church for the Holy Days  10:00 a.m.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24:  The Christmas Service at 9:00 p.m.  Choir, special music, the Rector will preach.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 25:  The Christmas Day Service at 10:00 a.m.  Christmas Caroles, the Associate will preach.

The Rector will be away November 30 - December 2 and December 30 - January 6.  The Reverend Canon Cathy Dempsey, associate at The Cathedral of St. Paul, will take the service on January 2.
