Spiritus Gladius

If you are a visitor to St. Paul’s today, Welcome! Please say “Hello” to Fr. John Paul after the service. Let him know if you would like to be contacted later this week.

St. Paul’s Annual Meeting last Sunday, January 22. Thanks to all who took an hour of their time to participate in the church’s business. We especially appreciate everyone that contributed to the splendid meal before our meeting.

Elected to office Please welcome Linda Call as our new Warden for 2012 and 2013. Also elected to serve on the Permanent Endowment Fund Board for two-year terms were Sue Briggs and Garth Swanson.

Stephen’s Table is in need of non-perishable groceries. Extended unemployment and high costs of living are making for tight times at this noon-time meal service that Ed Cochran leads. Can you make an effort to buy at least one extra non-perishable item each week? Donated items go in the big laundry basket at the rear of the church. Gift cards of any denomination or cash are much appreciated as well and may be given to Sam Leadley to deliver to Mr. Cochran.

Day-by-Day devotional guides for the February-April quarter are in the literature rack at the back of the church. The church purchases them for your devotional use at home. There is no charge for these. If you have a friend or know a shut-in person that might desire a guide please share one with them – we usually have three or four copies left over each quarter.

Do you need to monitor your blood pressure? This parish nurse ministry by Irma Altman is the third Sunday of every month. The next Sunday for blood pressure is February 19th.

St. Paul’s Calling Tree has been revised. We will pass a copy around during our fellowship time. Please make any changes to make it correct.

Pledges of support for 2012 It is not too late to make a pledge of financial support for our ministries in 2012. Your pledge may be placed in the regular offering plate at the morning service or you may give it directly to Shelly Waterman.

Vestry meeting minutes are available on the table at the rear of the church for all the meetings in 2011. Everyone is welcome to pick up a copy before we start posting the Vestry minutes for 2012.

Vestry business Tell a vestry member if you have parish concerns. They can bring these concerns to our next vestry meeting. Current vestry members include:

Sam Leadley, Barbara Morris, Jerry Call, Wally Hinchey, and Debi Stowell. Wardens are Cindy Hinchey and Linda Call.

To add/delete names to prayer list, contact either Shelly Waterman (548-7646) or Diane Smith (344-0768). If you know any of the folks on the armed forces list that are no longer on active duty please tell Shelly or Diane.

Do you shop at TOPS? Did you remember that for every dollar you spend for groceries or at the pharmacy the ECW could receive five cents? Every $100 = $5 for ECW! No special forms to complete. No paperwork. Purchase a gift card from Sue Briggs before going to TOPS and use the card just like cash.

Grocery gift cards are for sale by the ECW. For each dollar purchased, the ECW receives 5 cents toward their annual budget. Ask Susan Briggs for one or more cards in $20 and $50 amounts. When you buy groceries, these gift cards are the same as cash at TOPS & Pharmacy – just slide them through the credit card reader for credit toward your purchases. Any balance remaining on the card carries ahead to your next purchase. Also receive credit toward gasoline purchases.
