Birthdays:
Sally - August 19

Ministry:
1967 - 1973
Fellowship Baptist Church of Caledonia, NY. This church was built from a bible study group consisting of three families and became self-supporting in five years. We worked throughout this time to support ourselves.

1973-1977 Est Baptist Church of Henrietta, NY. The Lord greatly blessed and the church experienced wonderful growth. We were successful in our attempt to remove the church from the American Baptist Convention. In 1976 the Lord renewed an earlier call dating back to 1963, that of missions work in Europe. In 1976 we joined Evangelical Baptist Missions. The Lord raised our support in eight months.

1977-1978 we arrived in Germany August of 1977 and remained there until I was diagnosed as having a fatal liver disease. With only “six months to live” we returned home in late 1978. The Lord graciously healed me in February 1979. Seven months of 1979 were spent as interim pastor at North Baptist Church, Rochester, NY.
1980-1983 Trinity Baptist Church, Rochester, NY Starting with one family and two singles we built another church while recuperating, this time a multi-racial assembly in the inner-city of Rochester. Trinity reached self-support in two years time. After three years there we left once again for Europe.

1983-1989 Kaiserslautern and Augusburg, West Germany. After attending language school we helped out a furloughing missionary by pastoring a small German school in Zweibrucken for one year. We then moved to Augsburg where we established the Freie Baptisten Gemeinde, which grew wonderfully. Our ministry involved much work with refugees, mostly people out of the East Block. We consistently met with Russians for worship services, generally in a rented room at the Lager. Much help was also given to a group of refugees out of Romania. During our years in Augsburg we worked with people out of Lebanon, Iran, Poland, China, Russia, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Hungary, and East Germany.

1989 - 1990 Beacon Evangelical, Everton, Liverpool, England. Our mission board asked for someone to fill the need in Liverpool on a short-term basis. Although our hearts had been on the Continent, this time gave us a needed break. An evaluation of our ministry on the Continent, especially regarding Easter Europe, had been a priority for us. During this time we established “Eastern Europe Ministries” for EBM.

Late 1990-1991 During the fall of 1990 we visited many of our supporting churches, giving an update and presenting Eastern Europe Ministries. Beginning in 1980 my liver had been acting up and in February of 1991 I experienced complete liver failure. On May 1st the doctors snatched me from the brink of death, giving me a liver transplant. I spent much of 1991 in the hospital.

1992-1998 While recovering from my liver transplant a military church in Germanyu phoned me asking advice regarding a problem within the church. I gave them advice and it helped them greatly. Soon thereafter the Sembach Church phoned once again and asked if I would be interested in being the pastor of their church in Germany. Soon I was on the plane candidating at the church. They called Sally and me to the church and we left in October 1992.

1998 Dr. Jackson asked us is we would be willing to return home to work out of the home office representing the mission in the churches and colleges. In this ministry we are responsible to direct the European field, to recruit people for missions, to preach in conferences both in churches and colleges, and to develop new ministerial outreaches for the field. By the way, on April 28, 1999 I had a kidney transplant, an operation from which I have fully recuperated.

As we look back on our ministerial history we can honestly say before God and man that never have we had church problems, church splits or even a major disagreement at the board level. Every church in which we have labored has grown and prospered wonderfully and when we left a church it was with a great sadness that we no longer would be together with that church. For this we praise the Lord. We do our new ministry with great expectation. As a pastor of many years, I feel at home in the pulpit of the churches of America. The Lord has called us into the ministry and He has constantly kept us for that purpose. With the Apostle Paul we say: “By the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace towards me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” I Corinthians 15:10
