The American Bible Society has its headquarters at 61st Street and Broadway in Manhattan (near Lincoln Center, the Theatre District, and a host of other attractions).  The beautiful on-site Bible museum and bookstore are well worth a visit.  Check the website for hours of operation.

Bible Gateway is an online service that allows one to read many versions of the Scriptures in English and other languages.  The website also features a "Daily Bible Reading."

The Book of Concord contains the official and definitive theological documents (also known as "the Confessions") of the Lutheran Church.  Anyone interested in learning what Lutherans believe will find it in the Book of Concord.

The Cloisters houses the bulk of the Metropolitan Museum's medieval collection, including some splendid examples of ecclesiastical art.  The building itself comprises elements of several medieval monasteries that were disassembled, shipped to New York, and reassembled here at the northern tip of Manhattan.  Parking is available near the entrance, especially in the morning.  Pack a picnic lunch to eat in the surrounding park and enjoy the views of the Hudson River.

Concordia Publishing House offers excellent resources for individual Christians as well as congregations.  Among its most popular items are the recently-published Lutheran Study Bible and Treasury of Daily Prayer.

Concordia Theological Seminary (Fort Wayne, Indiana) and Concordia Seminary (St. Louis, Missouri) are the two divinity schools of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, dedicated to the intellectual and spiritual formation of our parish clergy and deaconesses.  

First Things is a widely respected journal that explores the relationship between faith and culture from a traditional perspective.  Its articles are consistently profound and readable.

Higher Things is an engaging website intended primarily for Lutheran high school and college students, but offering a number of features (including daily devotions) that will interest persons of any age.  "Dare to be Lutheran!" is their motto.

Issues, Etc.  describes itself as "Christ-centered, cross-focused talk radio."  Its programs cover a wide range of topics, analyzing each of them from the standpoint of confessional Lutheranism. 

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod numbers some 2.3 million members organized in more than 6,000 parishes across the United States.  Its website gives an overview of the Synod's work at home and abroad. 

Lutherans for Life is an organization dedicated to promoting the sanctity of all human life, from conception to natural death.  It makes available a variety of pro-life resources at a very reasonable cost.

Lutheran Hymnal is an online source for many of the texts and melodies found in contemporary Lutheran hymnals.

New York City Transit posts maps, schedules and other useful information about the city's vast system of subway lines and bus routes.  This is an indispensable site for tourists!

Touchstone Magazine:  A Journal of Mere Christianity offers a thought-provoking rejoinder to the moral and theological revisionism that dominates our culture.  It is produced by the Fellowship of St. James.  Free copies of their St. James Daily Devotional Guide to the Christian Year are available in the narthex at Emmaus.
